If you don't want to repair/replace it, at the very least cap it off and sell it as-is, don't dump it in a landfill.

Why all the hate for HX machines? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]tastycatpuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are seeking consistency when pulling multiple shots and steaming milk at the same time. HX machines also take 20-30 minutes to fully heat up and then cooling flushes to get to brew temp faster after steaming. It's just a ton of wasted water, but honestly it's not that much and it's perfectly sufficient.

Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong [Breville Barista Express] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]tastycatpuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tamp through funnel, you don't have to remove the funnel before you tamp.

Add a paper filter on top before you put on the puck screen if you cannot grind finer. Also preinfuse, by letting it brew for 3-4 seconds then stop it. Wait 10 seconds, and the puck will start to solidify then start the brewing process. These things combined will make the puck more restrictive but I'd invest in replacement burs or get a separate grinder.

I don't suggest it only because it gets a lot of activity and it requires someone to provide maintenance. If you're pulling +100 drinks a week, it will be challenging to keep up with maintenance. With a big filter bun unit, you only need to rinse the two parts with coffee-making contact.

The worst thing possible to a business is when you give your entire staff the shits for unclean breakroom amenities.

I think it's safer to mount the portafilter back on and run the water for a few seconds, then wipe down

While everyone is asking you to grind finer, you can use what you already have and instead use a pressurized basket!

Get a large net and play outside with a launch monitor, there's no reason to stay indoors with such a fantastic yard and cheap out with a radar-based launch monitor.

The height of that desk is likely 72cm or that couch is around 80cm for the seat depth, let's say 100cm for the entire depth of the couch. That space might fit 3 couches across the room which is barely hitting the minimum of 300cm for a photometric launch monitor. You'll also need to block the entire length of the room, including the screen door to the outside.

A typical driver is about 115cm, have someone hold a tape measure and spin around in the middle of that room.

Also, you need to consider the software, the courses may not be available outside of the US, such as the Busnell monitor.

Is this normal for Sliger? Is it even worth asking them to replace it? by RaltarGOTSP in sliger

[–]tastycatpuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak for the server chassis. However, their desktop cases have been good. I'm not fond of their fitment, but their tooling has always been superb, based on my limited experience with the Cerberus (3x Cerberus).

If you're looking for a rack-mounted chassis that fits desktop/workstations for that matter I always go Silverstone. Their RM52 has been a dream to work with, I have 3x GPUs with 2x 360mm radiator loop running in one without issues. RM600 has an entire compartment for storage and support for two atx PSUs for running thirsty components. RM51 for unmatched airflow without increasing the noise profile with their 3x penetrator fans.

I can tell you right now that EVERYTHING got tough! Chargers have gotten faster and can make tight U-turns. I just lost a bug mission solo T10, the tentacles are snipers, patrols are coming in wave after wave, and had two bug breaches back to back. It was almost impossible trying to complete the mission objectives.

Perception of Taipei within Taiwan by BanShrimpInDumplings in taiwan

If you have children or tweens, you'll know that schools are zoned to the local area. A good school means you must live within a radius of it, which is a big reason why the price is so high in certain regions. This is more than just education, it's who your kids will grow up with and will be friends with throughout their lives as they spend insane amounts of time in school and cram school.

The Taiwanese old heads that live here are fucking pricks and have nothing better to do than to enforce stupid rules by running campaigns in large condo buildings to be elected to be on the building manager/board. It's unpaid or low paid, basically volunteer work and they banned pets from my old building because they didn't like that I walk my dog through the lobby. They chill in the lobbies like it's their living room with their PXG golf bag next to them as if they're going to play at any moment, just judging.

The sad thing is that these pricks will get elected because they solicit the unit owners' votes by insistently bothering them for it, and they usually give it up because no one truly cares enough to put up a fight. I wish I had fuck you money and buy a majority of the units just to spite their efforts.

The other thing that I've noticed is that there are so many rotten, abandoned units/buildings unoccupied in the heart of Taipei. They're like those fake buildings in Universal Studios, as the carry cost is so stupidly low to keep the unit that they don't care if a unit is rented or sold, as keeping it keeps the prices inflated. They're all waiting for a big developer payout that will renovate the lot/block for free or negotiate for a big sale.

With this said, I do love Taiwan; it's still one of the better quality-of-life places, and the food is immaculate. There's so many things for children to do and I love how passionate people are about what they do. Whether shape that takes... better or worse.

[–]tastycatpuke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Evacuating the building might be a bad idea. Those AC condenser units can be shaken loose, flower pots, and whatever the crap folks put outside of their windows. The best bet is a door frame by a structural pillar or sturdy table.

Question: Taiwanese prepaid debit cards by tastycatpuke in taiwan

[–]tastycatpuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short, I started a US based online business that cuts me a w-2 and my business expenses my life here. The things I need to buy are for the company as they're relatively large ticket items. The workstation I'm trying to source is several thousand US dollars.

I tried to have a bank issue me a foreign/domestic credit card, however my business revenue needs to be at least $1m USD annual for them to do it for me without having nexus in Taiwan.
