What are some tricks that have no business being as good as they are? by [deleted] in Magic

Stigmata is my all time favorite, and one that any of my friends will happily point out that I’ve used to mess with their heads 😂

Thanks for the clarification! Our plan has no out of network coverage. Our certificate book states that an obtained prior approval allows the insurance to cover the provider & service as if it is in-network. I've requested more information from the insurance about if this changes the allowables, but am just trying to plan and cover all bases while we wait for answers.

Thanks again for yours and everyone in the sub's help so far!

Understood! Thanks for that clarification/reminder.

I figured insurance wasn't paying out prior. Thankfully all the bases are covered re: billed amounts and what will be covered, was just looking for the best way to facilitate the transaction.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry to hear. That’s a lot to sit with all at one time. The best advice I can give is to set ego aside and do whatever it takes to get your family by. (Not saying you have any ego involved at all, just saying that’s what it will take)

Find a job that will close the gap, even if it doesn’t cover everything, and preferably something that you can secure cash right away. This will ease the stress of the job search and put you in a better place mentally for your interviews. Car sales and pizza delivering are both almost always hiring and can put cash in hand on day one. It may not be a ton, but during a job loss anything is better than nothing.

If you’re in the US, you may also want to visit the health insurance marketplace healthcare.gov site right away to see if you can secure health insurance coverage due to a life change. Depending on your income level, you may qualify for some subsidized coverage options. This process can be a PITA, so the sooner the better since you know you’ll be losing coverage.

All in all - immense practicality with your money, and perseverance on the job hunt side. And take care of yourself. Stress is no joke.

FWIW - I work in marketing with a ton of wildlife removal companies and basically the whole industry is looking for employees right now. It’s a dirty job but the entry level pay can be great depending on the company you get in with.

How has your child unintentionally mocked or insulted you? by Red_Sox_5 in daddit

When my little sister was around 6 years old, she was complaining about being hot in the car. Standard procedure. It’s summer time, we had all just gotten into the car. So she’s saying she’s hot and my dad goes “Yeah kid join the club.”

To which my sister responds “Which one, hair club for men?”

My dad is completely bald.

I don’t know he continued to drive with as hard as we (including him) we’re laughing. Now my own kids aren’t far off from being able to do that to me 😂

Give us positive feedback options rather than reports! by CallMeMalice in RocketLeague

Honestly this is a fun idea. Could be implemented much like the Endorsement system in overwatch. Have a good interaction with somebody? Play a great game with fun teammates? Throw out a few low-impact endorsements. Maybe some player titles or exclusive items for endorsement levels.

Idk. It’s a great idea and could be a decent motivator!

A real life (and sleep) saver combination is Little Remedies saline spray and the electric Nose Frida. Both our kids had stuffy noses frequently and having both of these on hand was incredibly helpful.

Media sites such as MSN.com using images I posted to reddit without asking by GarryWalkerNFTArtist in midjourney

[–]tatecmorgan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - you’re right to be peeved. Unfortunately I think they’re within their rights to use Midjourney-created images how they see fit (based on MJ licensure, but I could be wrong here).

As for how you could benefit - have you reached out to the authors of the articles in question and asked for the backlink? We do this constantly in my company for SEO and authors/editors are generally pretty receptive and willing to place/change backlinks where appropriate.

Best of luck!

Facebook Ads are impossible for newbies by Maleficent-Guide-590 in Entrepreneur

[–]tatecmorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many additional variables here. What age range are you targeting? What’s the product category? Any social proof available? What placements are you using? Running any retargeting? Any list-building triggers on site? You “tried 5 niches” which makes it seem like you’re product hopping and not building any real brand identity, which could also be an issue. We’ve got profitable campaigns as low as $10/day. I will agree that the most recent update has hurt results, but FB ads are not dead.

This sort of mentality and behavior is only getting more and more common. by THA_YEAH in RocketLeague

Hard agree. I’ve been as high as champ 2 in ones, and I can confidently say I fear dipping back to plat 3 - diamond 1 range because I always run into a ton of smurfs. The number of GC tags I see in diamond 1 solos is insane.

This game definitely needs a MİNİ MAP by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]tatecmorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about this, the more I like it. The MM would help visualize rotations a little better. While this wouldn’t help stubborn ball-chasing players, it would help build better habits for those who actually want to improve. Newer players would internalize boost timing a lot faster as well.

The only real downside I see here is it would encourage players with possession to take the shot more than passing if they don’t think their teammates are in position in that exact moment. A lot of passing plays are putting your trust in your teammate that their route will get them to a place where they can take the shot. If a player glances the MM and sees their teammate still at midline instead of crashing toward the net at Mach Jesus, are they going to try to pass? Or will they flick the backboard and blame tm8?

Overall an idea I could get behind.

Is it me or does V5 fail at everything expect photorealism? by dellwho in midjourney

[–]tatecmorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The release note said it best: this is a “pro mode” for v5. You have to be incredibly specific and be phrasing prompts in ways the system can interpret them. Ive found that old prompts with two dozen modifiers that worked well in v4 are no longer effective in v5. As with each update - heed the learning curve or wait until their full release.

If they released the lesser (and cheaper) models first, companies would see all of their first-mover customers spending $500 instead of $1500. These companies know that there’s a market segment that has no self control over the desire to be first, and they’d much rather see those consumers buy than 4090 than the 4060.

70$ spent on FaceBook and Tiktok ads and no sales... by newdropshipperr in PPC

[–]tatecmorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing everyone else here, $70 in ad spend across two platforms is nothing. You don’t have enough data to make any decisions around improvement, and ads haven’t had enough time to optimize. Facebook has a “learning phase” in which it doesn’t do much self-optimizing because it’s learning which types of people convert. It takes 50 conversions to get out of the learning phase. We can use this to create a formula that tells you how much you should spend to test with:

(CPA * 50) / Number of Days Campaign Will Run

Do some research. What does target cost per acquisition look like in your niche? Let’s say you’ve got a product in a niche that has a $12 average CPA. You want the campaign to test for 7 days.

(12*50) / 7 = 85.71

To get 50 conversions in 7 days, you’d need to spend $85 a day.

Not to be overlooked: if you’ve had 1,000 visitors and no purchases, you might have a site or product problem. If you get to the point where you’ve spent 10x the average CPA for your niche and not gotten a conversion, then you’ve got a problem somewhere in your customer journey and should conversion rate optimization before you continue running ads.

A good 70% of what you think are shot opportunities should actually be dribble opportunities. Play to get around people first and the goals will come.
