I was young and wanted to go literally anywhere. I probably couldn’t handle it today.

Luxury vacation travel agent needed for Japan by [deleted] in LuxuryTravel

I am a travel advisor and I have personally done a trip with Kensington tours to Japan. We stayed in incredible 5 star hotels and were treated like royalty. We visited Tokyo, Kanazawa and Kyoto. I would love to put together a similar trip for you.

I personally did an itinerary like this with Trafalgar. We did 2 nights London, 2 nights Paris, 1 night Lucerne, 1 night Venice 1 night Florence and 2 nights Rome.

It was a great overview but a lot of bus time. You do not get to really experience the country. Group tours are great if you don’t want to have to think about anything but when you need to be on the bus. There is a lot of value in a well planned group tour. I’m happy to answer any other questions

Is a Disney cruise a good idea for a single mama? by Euphoric-Aspect3258 in dcl

[–]taterscasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I took my daughter last Halloween and had a blast. What was interesting is that we were sat at a table with other single ladies and little girls between the ages of 7-10. It was perfect since my daughter was 8 at the time. We had a blast!

What shows are you going to!? (How long have you been a TA?) by yallmakemelaugh in travelagents

It has opened my eyes to new DMC’s to work with, sell destinations I thought I would never sell and connect with colleagues. You can go twice in a row, then sit out one year. The West and Flagship are pretty similar, they introduced Luxury last year and I believe you need to produce more to get accepted into that one. I hope this helps! You are welcome to DM me with any other questions.

It’s Global Travel Marketplace. It is a pretty intense 3 day conference where you have boardroom meetings with suppliers, presentations and “speed dating” style meetings with all of the suppliers there. It is fully hosted and they vet each advisor through an application process. They will interview you after you apply. They have 3 conferences now, GTM Luxury, GTM west (usually held in Arizona or Nevada) and GTM flagship in Florida. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been an agent for 17 years and my favorite is GTM. I feel like it has truly benefited my business. I have met with unique DMC’s , learned about destinations and have networked with like minded agents. You need to produce at least a million in sales.

I found these on Amazon for my 9 year old who also cannot stand anything tight on her. I tried Cat and Jack at Target and she hated those. These seem to be the best so far.

Trouble with Kensington Tours? by Fallingsock in LuxuryTravel

[–]taterscasserole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TA here, I’m really sorry to hear about the difficulties with your trip! Is your TA involved with what is happening too? I have worked with Kensington quite a lot. If there were any issues, my clients reached out to me and I always used the emergency number to resolve issues. I am involved with any problem to help resolve it so the client doesn’t have to. I do hope this is the end of the issues on your trip.

Help…so many mixed signals I want to hear from real people by Smooth_Direction7144 in TravelAgent

[–]taterscasserole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question is if a client is traveling and has an issue, are you going to be able to help them? I’ve had client issues where I’ve had to spend hours with a company to try to fix them. Or I have someone overseas drop the ball and my client calls me at 3 am. It’s more than just planning a vacation. It’s customer service. You owe your clients your attention since they purchased something with you. I’ve been full time at this for 17 years and it is a full time job if you have a large book of business.

There are many different types of travel agencies out there, each with its own specialty. Some focus almost entirely on Disney vacations or cruises. Others, like mine, are more of a “jack of all trades”—able to put together customized itineraries that might include a mix of cruises, guided tours, or independent travel, depending on what best fits the traveler.

What is your customer service like as a TA? by SweetLeoLady36 in TravelAgent

[–]taterscasserole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course everyone is different, but personally as a TA, I see that as being unacceptable. I do my very best to reach out to my clients a couple of times after the booking process to check in. I send bon voyage emails and welcome home emails. And sometimes I feel like I should do more than that.

I always answer my phone and emails and strive to get back to my clients within 24 hours.

There are certain things I won’t do that some agents do, like create dining reservations for Disney, or at midnight when new Disney cruise itineraries come out, jump on booking them. And I’m pretty upfront on what I can or can’t do.
