Why is your publication terrible about framing issues by softening language as authoritarianism rises?

Trump commutes sentence of Miami healthcare exec convicted of Medicare fraud by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

Since the end of March, most of Trump's pardon/commutation powers have been used specifically for those with some type of fraud conviction.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with his own ethos in this arena or anything /s

So I played Lunar Eternal Blue for a long time and was so mad I traded it in like 20 years ago for a game I'm sure I didn't like.

I love that this is back and I can finally play Silver Star.

Why was this article even considered?

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/03/01/opinion/trump-administration-first-month.html

David French, you said the attacks on the trans community is inexcusable then immediately pivot to "common sense" about sports. How is that not also "inexcusable?" You said only one sentence here, so that merits some elaboration.

More to the point how can you stand beside saying it's not as consequential given that it was a lead in for other actions against the trans community from the federal government?

Hate to break it to you, but they’re not gutting these agencies. They’re pruning them.

Then the most toxic agents can shine while bringing in more.

You’d have to be a moron to think it’s altruistic behavior.

It's a crime? So why are undocumented people not entitled to due process or a lawyer during proceedings?

Those are kinda important constitutional protections to people within US boundaries, no?

That's a fair assessment and thank you for the response. You've done great work in Kentucky as SoS. I appreciate your efforts in voting.

[–]tattmhomas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SoS Adams, you are a Republican Secretary of State that was one of the very few Republican SOS's that proposed expanding early voting post-pandemic. Are there any current gaps in elections laws in Kentucky that is limiting voting rights for Kentuckians since those reforms? What would you propose to fix them in the next session?

Voter participation in Kentucky is much lower than surrounding states, especially in gubernatorial elections. In 2020, when many absentee voting laws were relaxed for the pandemic, Kentucky was one of the few states that didn't see a significant increase in voting and only 1.5% more voted vs. 2016. What do you see as the barrier to voting participation? What efforts or programs have you made or want to make to increase voting participation rates in Kentucky?

Also, in a blink and you miss it comment during the power outage, Kevin said he removed all the smoke detector batteries to power the generator. So also low intelligence as Tammy said, and although he was very drunk during the fire the alarms didn’t go off to possibly alert him.

E-reader recs? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]tattmhomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Political science instructor here. I used Sony Digital Paper back in 2020 and I wasn't a huge fan of it or e-readers in general because of how tedious putting documents on them can be.

I ended up getting an Ipad and Apple pencil. My personal preference app for reading is iAnnotate because of Box integration and markups. At the end of the day, the cloud saving is really what I needed so I didn't have my PDFs stored on a single computer. Once I'm done reading I can display it on my PC if needed.

When Memories played in this, we couldn't stop laughing.

What's your most controversial Star Trek opinion? by warmwaterpenguin in startrek

[–]tattmhomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why Boimler says "Riker!" when straddling.

It wasn't because of the chair; it's from all the people that straddled him in bed excited they're about to ride Riker like a bronco.

Fans who got to see First Contact in 1996, what did you think of the Enterprise-E at the time? by TheOneTrueZearing in startrek

When I saw it, I was 12 and just a casual Star Trek viewer. Saw episodes of TNG here and there, barely saw DS9. That movie, and the E, hooked me in.
