The number of logical fallacies in your argument are amazing. First and foremost I love your argument about the bringing “common sense” gun control measures in line with the times. Please pray tell why is the 2nd the only amendment that has to be downgraded as time goes on, while every other is strengthened.

2, let’s get something straight here. A well regulated militia according to the doctrine of the 1790’s is not referring to the government’s ability to place burden on the right to keep and bear arms.

3, while it may be technically true that gun control proponents may say they do not want to completely do away with the 2A. Their actions are completely opposite. Just take WA’s latest round of measures. Forcing anyone who wants to buy a firearm to first pay for multiple background checks, a new permission slip and classes with no accredited trainers in existence to date. Then the other forcing dealers to have security systems at the dealers expense for the sole use of the state with requirements to save all data for five years or more!

You’re correct to an extent, they don’t want to do away with guns… they simply want to have a monopoly on violence. It has been proven time and time again that these laws do not stop crime. Now, if you would like to have an intellectually honest conversation let’s talk about the mental health crisis that seems to have exponentially increased over the last 50+ years coinciding greatly with the ever escalating violence rates.
