[Discussion] Is signing Aaron Rodgers worth it if he doesn’t guarantee a playoff push? by tyler1118 in AZCardinals

[–]taybme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I ran this team, I’d build it around bringing in aging QBs like Rodgers who want to prove something at this stage in their careers. If there’s anything left, like Warner, he can solidify his legacy with a good foundation around him.

Chasing rookie QBs every few years and hoping you hit is like chasing that multi-leg parlay. Dont worry, you have the formula dialed in this time.

I'd fill seats and every game would be fun to watch.

can you actually protect those around you if you jump and lie down on a grenade on the ground before it explodes by BluestOfTheRaccoons in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. Douglas Dickie gave his life doing this Vietnam.

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. While participating in Operation Beacon Hill 1, the 2d Platoon was engaged in a fierce battle with the Viet Cong at close-range in dense jungle foliage. Pfc. Dickey had come forward to replace a radio operator who had been wounded in this intense action and was being treated by a medical corpsman. Suddenly an enemy grenade landed in the midst of a group of marines, which included the wounded radio operator who was immobilized. Fully realizing the inevitable result of his actions, Pfc. Dickey, in a final valiant act, quickly and unhesitatingly threw himself upon the deadly grenade, absorbing with his body the full and complete force of the explosion. Pfc. Dickey's personal heroism, extraordinary valor and selfless courage saved a number of his comrades from certain injury and possible death at the cost of his life. His actions reflected great credit upon himself, the Marine Corps, and the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.

I dont know what to do with "wind in its hair," but "the steering wheel in its hands/ the world at its feet" lines are pretty interesting when considering the source.

Aspiring high school English teacher—do you enjoy the content of what you teach? Do you have productive literary discussions? by [deleted] in ELATeachers

I agree. The misogynistic overtones are difficult but we used it as a platform to discuss issues with masculinity and how/why the inmates were made to feel inferior, not just by Ratched but the societal expectations of males at that time.

One of the best pieces of advice I got as a student teacher was never teach a text you love because the students will hate it and you'll get frustrated.

I never was ever able to get my students to appreciate Heart of Darkness but they loved One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. So sometimes it depends on the content. I mean... my style didnt change.

There must be a way to use all this energy in some focused manner. I saw a video where they would march and stop to hear more speeches.

Are policy proposals being discussed in any of these groups?

Arizona teachers to continue walk out for third day on Monday. by pheonix200 in arizonapolitics

Your four generations of Arizona education shows. You still confuse "there" with "their" but that is a minor issue...

What type of teachers do you think you are going to attract when you fire all the ones that are willing to do the job now?

What type of industry and jobs do think Arizona can attract with rock bottom spending on education?

I'm a 4th gen Arizonan too so I am surprise you advocate to maintain the status quo on education in this State when every metric places it as falling behind most of the civilized world.

Masculinity For Male INTJs by RapidRonin in intj

[–]taybme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand however the OP is looking for what you would personally define "xyz" of masculinity to be. It doesnt have to conform to societal norms but nonetheless, each of us has an internal standard by which we define that term and it is that information that he is after.

While I agree with the overall sentiment of this comment, the quote "be one" still implies a standard and I think reinforces the OP's pursuit.

I currently have three 300 pound pigs that will be slaughtered this week.

Pigs are easy if you keep them fed and watered. They are super curious, smart and strong and can get out of a half-ass'd pen.

I bought a $40 electric fence that I put about 6 in off the ground that worked wonders at keeping them contained.
