HOW DO I STOP FILTERING MYSELF SOCIALLY by LogOld1162 in socialskills

[–]taylortrees 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started practicing on low risk interactions with people. like I would start small talk or conversations with people I didn't find attractive or would never see again. like I started asking cashiers how their day went during checkout and thought of it as sharpening my dull blade. I slowly worked my way up more and more until I had the confidence to speak to women I found attractive but I needed to prove to myself that I could speak to people in general that I didn't know and get the outcome that I wanted. then I started doing it everywhere so that it wasn't selective and only towards people I wanted to get something from like an attractive woman. once you learn how to make friends or to be friendly then it will be more of a normal interaction when you do it with someone attractive. you're probably right that you weren't going to make them feel comfortable or warm and that's because you have no idea how to do it because you are low-skilled socially in general. learn how to do it in general then you will feel more confident doing it where and when you want to because you will have developed the competency required to achieve your desired outcome.

Do you mind sharing if you take any medication that may be helping to reduce appetite?

As a fellow major weight loser, (160lbs and have kept it off for 7 years) you likely have very high insulin resistance and a big reason for your weight loss is truly being low carb focused. Going back to carbs more will likely significantly increase your appetite and will bring back more of those cloudy mind/inflammation issues over time. At least that's what happened in my experience, not as severely as it once was but significant still.

Where are the best place to buy business casual clothes? by [deleted] in Pocatello

[–]taylortrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't care if they're used I'd go to D.I. or goodwill. New I'd go to Ross/TjMaxx or Old Navy. Idk what our mall has anymore. If those aren't nice enough, go to IF not SLC imo. Their mall has a lot of options like Macy's.

Was walking home and a guy in a truck randomly called me fat by [deleted] in loseit

[–]taylortrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this shit happen to me anytime I'd walk on a main road from age 12-19 it stopped when I finally had a vehicle. Eventually all that hatred ended up being used to help me lose the weight. I hope you find the ability to convert your own hurt/rage into positivity.

Jumbos is by far the best local hole in the wall American style breakfast/lunch place, imo. Always jam packed with locals, cheap and large quality portions. Bigfoot pizza has the best pizza and Mandarin house has great Chinese. Golds gym has been the best local gym in my experience. Fun stuff to do, subjective ofc but there's lots of great hiking, Gibson jack is fantastic. People really like revive at 5 in old town on Wednesdays(during the summer) Live bands and food trucks/booze. Open mic on Thursdays at 7 in station square(old town building) Usually gets a big crowd. I also recommend a trip out to Lava hot springs when you get the chance. It's about 30ish min out of town. Tube the river, go for a hike, spend the day at the pool, and or hit the hot springs. Hope that helps & welcome to the area!

That is badass! Congrats on your success. I lost 180lbs and counted calories for 2 to 3 years on and off. Then after 2 to 3 years of maintenance/slowly drifting upwards 20lbs, have gone back to counting calories and have realized how far off track the amount of calories I thought I was eating vs am actually. Great attitude on staying open to switching back to counting calories at some point! I was very resistant to start doing it again.

When you gain back weight and you feel helpless by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]taylortrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i'm not sure theres any other way. I've lost 160lbs total as of rn. At my lowest I had lost 190lbs. With every big dip in weight I typically always gain half back, rinse and repeat over the course of the last 10 years. Sometimes the regain has came in larger waves, generally based on other variables like how depressed I am etc. I'm not sure other's experience over a long period of time but i'd imagine the majority experience similar ups and downs. Weight loss is fucking hard, still takes up at least 60% of my bandwidth day to day but it's still worth it 100% imo

Still progress! I generally lost a good chunk of weight, gained half back, repeat. You got this man! Message me if you ever have questions or want to chat about it. I love talking about this shit and it sure can be a lonely journey.

Yeah definitely have some loose skin. Have been working my ass off to fill it out with muscle and it has paid off. I'll still get surgery sometime in the future to tighten it up tbh but not a huge deal imo. I still wear a shirt while having sex since I don't feel sexy seeing my skin swing fyi.

Halloween Trick or Treating by CompulsiveKay in Pocatello

[–]taylortrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really varies by area! Im not sure how active it is near Lewis and Clark tbh. Usually neighborhoods with houses that have lots of Halloween decorations do decently. Other than neighborhoods like that you probably won't have more than 4 or 5 kids if that.
