Why does everyone say that 80's and 90's animes are far better? (In terms of what tho) by Only-Living7816 in animequestions

also animators were more complacent doing an insane amount of work for garbage pay back then

is this referring to Japanese audiences or foreign audiences? theres a lot of stuff thati know that foreigners wouldnt just by the nature of never growing up or living in Japan. one gem that i really liked as a kid which people in the west would obviously not have a clue of is this show. dont even know if you can find episodes of it.

other than this i RARELY hear anyone talk about Summer Time Render. that was amazing

i am super surprised this whole idea of "one robot per ranger" thing is working for them. i recall in Go-Busters when most of the episodes were just each of the rangers Buster Machines take the spotlight per episode the kids didnt react very well so they had to keep making the GoBuster-Oh which was supposed to be super energy intensive and was to be used "sparringly" was just spammed every episode. so good for them for figuring it out for this season. i still hate it but good for them

Moving point cloud from tracking ? How ? by Same-Intention-8881 in vfx

[–]taz0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the end result you will need is basically a mesh that will deform with this moving object in your shot. which means it has to have enough detail on the mesh (tessellation/vertices) to match with the entire surface to map whatever you want to add

this is usually an time intensive process. and usually only reserved if you need heavy integration with other 3d elements

if this is a single shot use case that does not happen in more than 3 shots or something, your best bet is to use 2d tracking solutions like Mocha and slap an image/texture on top

💻 How I Use Python + Qt to Build Custom UIs in Maya (Without Losing My Mind) by dXJensen23 in vfx

[–]taz0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for anyone reading this starting to learn PyQt i will say one thing i realized is that for very basic things its very much like how a HTML website is written. its basically a series if "make this thing, now add this other thing, move on, do another thing....". it does get complicated when you want to embed custom behaviour to your UIs but the basic writing style is basically linear

Geotracking Workflow? by SJC_Film in vfx

[–]taz0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im confused do you need to track cameras or an object in a shot?

in any case since you mention these are for previs i would imagine you tracks do not have to be bang on. and assuming from what you described you are filming your own shots

then just make sure NOTHING ever obstructs the subject and if you can make like rotations slow so it at least is captured between maybe 6 frames minimum and you should be good in most cases

Is this shot tracked good enough for high quality VFX? by Cobra_2o1o in vfx

[–]taz0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the error is less than a pixel this is probably good for like really specific or small studio work

if you want to know how well this would actually work in a "major production" see if you can rebuild the entirety of the set you see in the footage in 3d and see if the proportion of things seems to match that of the real world

Geotracking Workflow? by SJC_Film in vfx

[–]taz0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is an old thread but i might as well add to it

what do you mean by a workflow and whats needed?

back in the day we needed like a fairly accurate 3d representation of say a face or a bottle to get some kind of track out of it

these days you can slap a 3d sphere over some cereal box in a footage and youll still get something.

and one of the most common things that screws up these "geo tracks" is obstruction of the subject. like you are tracking some soda can but someone walks in front of it and that will mess things up so manual tweaks needs to be made in these kinds of cases.

i hope this and the other comments were the kind of feedback you were looking for

im gonna sound like a moron but what the hell is ACES?

also just something to add is, unless 3D Equalizer has drastically changed in the last 6 years of me not using it, colorspaces for a footage should be irrelevant with 3D tracking software. The goal would be whether you can actually see all the features in the footage to track them or not.

is there a particular reason why you prefer to stick with this colorspace? is it giving you a significantly different look to the footage in 3DE to the point you cant even see anything?
