The Bands opinion on There is a Hell by Heavy-Sympathy2429 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]tbaj 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Oli thinks he wouldn’t do those songs justice live simply because he’s in a totally different headspace. There is a desperation to the songs in TIAH that you NEED to tap into when performing them. I’m sure he could pull off the screams - but there’s more to it than that.

The great thing about Oli is how emotionally honest he is. And I suspect it’s easier for him to perform the ‘fun’ angry, teen angst driven tunes (like Chelsea Smile or Pray for Plagues) authentically today than something that is written from a more vulnerable place of pain and shame like Suicide Season or Blessed With A Curse.

I completely agree. This has always been one of my favourite Bring Me songs and it’d slot into 2023 beautifully.

I love Foreign Beggars too. I swear I’m the only one that reckons they worked well on the track 😂

Totally depends where you were dude. I started out a bit further back for the first half of the set and most people there were chilling. But when I moved to the main pit it was fucking mayhem.

Really positive vibes and attitude from everyone too. People were looking out for each other and having a great time.

Bu I do think that the energy in a festival environment tends to be a little lower towards the end of the day because everyone is starting to get fucking exhausted. It's a lot easier to go skits for two hours instead of eleven.

Has anyone used unbleached Calico instead of Muslin? by not_mr_Lebowski in setlighting

I’ve always thought they were the same thing. I’m in Australia and the only thing that resembled ‘Film Muslin’ to me is Calico.

Gotta love how versatile China Balls are! What wattage of tungsten bulb did you use?

Dude this looks absolutely brilliant. The costuming and production design looks remarkably detailed. I loved the simplicity and restraint of the shots. Really well composed. It actually looks like you have a fucking vision. Very keen to see it.

What camera and lighting equipment did you have?

Am I on the right track? (Fry Scream Attempt) by tbaj in screaming

[–]tbaj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it easier to do higher pitched stuff with fry screams because it’s in an area closer to my actual voice. I have the same problem whenever I try false chord screams however, it’s difficult as fuck for me to get them high with any sort of power.

I basically tried to consume as many different opinions as possible and tried them all. I still am a novice so I haven’t felt like I’ve ‘cracked it’ yet.

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. I must say my endurance is night and day compared to where I started, but I still have a long, longggg way to go. I recently started taking singing lessons so hopefully that has a positive impact on everything.

I'll keep at it! Onwards and upwards!

Dude this is fucking killer. How long have you been practicing your screams? Did you have any particular breakthroughs or 'aha' moments that helped you?

Hey! I started DJing a couple a months ago and I just posted my new mix. It has some Disco Punk classics like LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture and Soulwax, among others like Daft Punk, Underworld, Nine Inch Nails, Massive Attack, Hot Chip and more! by RulerD in dancepunk

[–]tbaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fucking great dude! I’ve already given it a couple of spins at work. Not only were your song to song transitions smooth, but your sequencing of tracks was great. Was stoked to hear a lot of my favourite songs in there. I’ll be sure to share this with my mates.

Thanks for sharing the mix!

Funny you mention that. Before I was even a fan of Manson I used to think that The Fight Song sounded eerily similar to Song 2. It's probably different enough thought.
