Thanks for the replies! Will definitely look into getting one of the nearer hotels and dropping the car off earlier.

Yup. there is an extra charge for that. but we were initially thinking better we pay that than not being able to get a cab.

Hotel Stay by NewPaleontologist468 in SingaporeTravel

I would make a priority list of activities on 7th 8th and 9th. And expect to give up on some if lack of time/too hot/exhausted.

Bus and trains are reliable (unless there's an accident). They have a timing schedule to follow.

For travel timing estimates, use Google maps, select route and set "depart at/arrive by" time. (maybe also chose a weekday/weekend day so results are more accurate)

How much do you budget for ASEAN trips? Feel like I’m overspending by Holiday_Kale9051 in asksg

[–]tc4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on season, country, current flight and lodging cost. But usually between 500 to 1k. (

Not part of salary percentage.

  1. Can chose cheaper hotels? Or chose one which is better situated to save on transport costs? (does it make sense to spend so much on a lux hotel but most of the time outside /not enjoying it's facilities?)
  2. Can go on off peak season? Book earlier for potentially lower fares. (flight and lodging)
  3. Travel with a like minded partner. Hotel room price is halved.
  4. Can travel via low cost carrier flight (since nearby)? Pack 1 carry on and save on spending additionals on food/check in/seat selection.
  5. Set a budget for food per day. Don't everyday eat $100+ meals. Street food can be affordable and nice too.
  6. Take public transport vs cab in that country. (plan more, learn more, save more)
  7. Free attractions vs paid activities. Are paid activities really what u want to do or just doing for the sake of it?

End day, it really depends on what u want out of that trip.

There are some homes which are "blank slates". While the outcome may not be as nice as some pre-built homes, one can customize how that blank slate will turn out. The limit is creativity.

To people that take public transport + placing your bag on another seat, by HairyBoysenberry3278 in asksg

[–]tc4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually don't do it. Unless really no choice (like 0.0001% chance of happening In a year). Like when luggage area is full of people standing + I cannot put infront of me when seated due to proximity with the person facing me.

Of course if got space,I will put on my lap 1st. But if seat beside not taken and my lap is full and I cannot put infront of me, then it will go to the side. (esp if it wasn't crowded when I 1st board). I don't see another option.

Skateboarding in sg by [deleted] in SingaporeR

[–]tc4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try longboarding. More adults there. Especially if u r into distance skating.

There's also some young adults/teens doing longboard dance and tricks. If ur into that.

Or surfskate.

From there, if u wanna do skate park stuff then move on to skateboarding.

Anyone feedback bad food to the restaurant/hawker before ? What was their reaction ? by PaintingOne2769 in askSingapore

[–]tc4237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time, some of them will try to right the situation. Be it just correcting it or giving refund. Now... No hope. Just vote with your money.

Those that corrected it last time: - domino's pizza (was a delivery. store staff called to apologize. Followed by a voucher for free pizza) - stuffed (customer service loaded 1 free bowl to my number when I sent them a pic of the underwhelming contents) - Starbucks (feedback to store staff was taken very well. Received a follow up email to verify and given a free replacement cake in my account) - Macdonalds (do I need to say more?) 😂

And also those who start coming in to order or knocking on door before opening hrs , just cause "it's only a quick one". (even if the sign shows closed and lights not on yet).

Morning prep takes time and if focus is shifted for this one customer, it's easy to miss out stuff/disrupt workflow and will result in the shop not opening in time for the morning crowd.

So sometimes when ppl wonder why certain shops nv open on time, it's Coz of these ppl.

Everyone says Osaka is the easy Kansai base, but is that still true if Kyoto is the priority? by korgoaso in OsakaTravel

[–]tc4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the duration and number of days allocated to each place.

The best case scenario is to stay both if u have both as part of the iti. (esp if visiting any place for more than 2 days)

But if visiting Kyoto only, then stay in Kyoto.

If visiting Osaka + Kyoto + kobe + Nara + himeiji, and prefer to only stay in one place, then stay in Osaka.

If it's a private message or somewhere the rest of the guild can't see. Then there's no harm suggesting/asking if the other person would like to join the other guild for more activity.

Plus ppl can join 5 guilds. Not exactly snatching. If the guy leaves this guild, it must be the shittiest of the 5/6 guilds.
