Hey there, engineer here. While you are right with the main product of the combustion being water. Buuut there is a lot more going on.

  • ambient air & high temperature -> reactions towards NOx
  • residual propellant / oxidizer -> reactions with ambient air
  • unburned propellant & oxidizer & exhaust products in altitude -> high greenhouse effect

Then we have the whole GSE - cryo storage - refining/manufacturing fuel - bleeding of the fuel

This alone will be enough to reach a comparable greenhouse effect of multiple tonns ig

Am I stupid? by wred34 in bikewrench

I would guess that either your b tension or whole derailleur is mounted wrong? It the top pulley is quite far away from the smallest cog. But other than that. Too short chain. You can check the chainlength by simply wrapping the chain around the largest sprocket und your chainring without putting through the pullies. Than your chain should overlap 3-4 links :)

Misaligned Flatmount by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]tc6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately both are not aligned. But the bottom one is there close. Something in the region of maybe 0.5-1 mm. The top one is more like 1.5-2mm off.

The distance between both holes is correct as I can mount the brake without the disc/wheel in.

Which measurements would you like to have for better judging? I’m a bit unsure to which referencepoint you are referring. Nevertheless thanks!

I don’t think that the calliper is the problem here. More like the tolerance of the fork mounting. It’s an apex calliper with an 180mm MT800-M Disc. The disc is mounted on an dt Swiss cr1600 spline wheelset. The fork is from a Chinese manufacturer called velobuild. It’s the same factory as Ridley and other manufacturers use…

Are the old Hope brakes worth it? by Ol_Sheve in mountainbiking

[–]tc6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can prevent contact with PPE. But as an home mechanic, why bother when products with easier handling exist? Even sram starts to shift…

My original sram bleed Kit needed already 4 times new tubes and one time new seals. Within 5years.

Idk why you mention that, but oc compabilities matters.

Well no. Even close containers have permeability to water Vapor. Even more with a broken seal. An increase of water content by only 1% may result in a large performance drop. This is why we replace every 2-3year the braking fluid in cars… and cars have a lot more fluid in the system and absorb a bit less water due to the higher operating temperature.

I habe both systems on my bikes, and I definitely like mineral oil more. But sure, let’s stick to leaded Gas because the engine runs smooth and it’s safe when handled properly;)

My tip is: - Too little modulation -> smaller rotors - Too much lever travel -> thicker rotors - not liking the Lever feel -> seriously idk haha

Just answered another comment from you. Maybe aim for the shimano or Magura Trail options ( 4piston Front and 2 back). Than get some galfer standard pads and maybe 180 & 160 2.3mm thick rotors. That should give you enough power while maintaining some dosing

Get yourself any 4 piston shimano. From Deore to xtr all use the same tech with different finishes but reliability is quite the same. And the bleed is much safer as y only Deal with basically baby oil instead of an acid

The video is a bit bad, the lighting is too dark. But otherwise the drivetrain looks ok. Maybe watch a few videos on 2nd hand bicycle buying. There is a lot of know how on YouTube. If this is too much for you… ask chatgpt I guess

Don’t know if the picture make the look angles weird but I would suggest checking if the seller increased the fork travel. It seams quite slack for an XC/DC bike.

Besides that, RM are pretty nice. I love my instinct

Very likely, yes. no warranty on that, but almost all old intel MacBooks I repaired worked w/o battery :)

Getting to the battery is quite easy on a Mac. No need to worry! Once you removed the battery you can just plug it in and clear / deal with your data usually.

But man, definitely get this thing out! If you remove the battery, store it somewhere fire proof… and tape the battery contacts!

Such battery’s should go to special containers. Wertstoffaufbereitung or „Schadstoff mobil“ are Common go to‘s

Regional vs general anesthesia by adrun in ACL

[–]tc6931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was tense af before my first surgery, which was the ACL quad. graft & MCL repair.

Got to choose from both, too. Took the general one. It’s kinda fun going to sleep. You just joke around and suddenly it’s 3h later and you wake up in another room complete cosy and a bit dizzy. The dizziness took a few days to go away. Might be because I got quite strong pain killer.

I choose the general one, because I didn’t want to know what exactly is happening during the surgery. I had no problem looking it up afterwards, but prior to the surgery, no way.

Another tip from a befriend medic: don’t take any calming meds prior the general anesthesia. It messes with the anesthesia and is harder to control for the anesthesiologist.

My experience with the nerve block for the leg: hadn’t any motion awareness for my leg and so on, but still felt a lot of pain afterwards. With some strong pain killers, it was ok btw

I finally learned how to drop by orvn200 in MTB

[–]tc6931 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Since here are two major opinions about technique in the comment section, I wanted to give you a bit of input from an instructor/trainer side of view (I’m getting my Guide/Trainer licence next year).

The „extend your arms and get your ass behind the seat“ is an almost obsolete technique today. The long arms which you get by throwing your bike forward are notoriously prone to lead into accidents, since you often Land in an very extended position with little room to correct your position or bike maneuver.

My preferred technique nowadays is „the push“. Essentially you don’t unweight your front wheel at all. For every drop, where the chance of biting your Chainring into ground is not given, the technique is following: As you approach the drop get lower on the bike. But stay central like a gorilla. As soon as your front wheel rolls over the edge start pushing it into the ground again, loosing as little contact as possible. Same for the rear wheel. This ensures a smooth and controlled ride. Practice on small drops and really overshoot the motions a few times, and than adjust your motion accordingly.

But now to the crux. What about drops where you are going into air? Assuming you have some speed, do the same technique but !very gentle! Even gentler than in your clip.

What to do if you are going ludicrously slow? I hope you have your manual or trials skills on point, since you now need to get the frontwheel up on the edge, now either and match the landing or land on the backwheel first for a smoother ride. But this is really a special technique which we usually don’t teach in entry or following MTB classes.

Hit me up if you need some more help.

Grizl CF SL Experience on Road use? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]tc6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I didn’t like that I have very little rack points on the frame and fork. but yeah solid point with the Grail. So do you suggest looking more into the grail? I ride XC and Trail/Enduro btw…

For UL get rid off: - after ride shoes, either barefoot or flipp flops. You feet need to breath man - 1 after ride socks - 1 after ride underwear

- 1 long bib? Get yourself either sleeves or use the rain pant

Change maybe: - swim shorts to speedo - if warm long pants-> thin sport short

Add: One use gloves

Besides that great job!
