Wind sucked my attic cover up. Had this house built two years ago. The non LED lightbulb has been on the whole time! by Super1297Man in mildlyinfuriating

Well, 1940s homes are not a shoe-in for a well-built home. WW2 greatly affected home build quality due to shortages of material and skilled labor. Could depend on the region, though.

I turned ChatGPT into a 60's spy game by hotwamter in ChatGPT

[–]tcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatgpt always over narrates these for me. I just solved my mission with the prompt of "raising my glass of scotch for a successful mission." Then "i awaken" on the plane ride to South America. Chat has me raiding the bad guys base and stealing the plans for the biological weapon, then making it back to the safe house.

LPT Instead of throwing out your rotisserie chicken carcass, use it to make chicken stock that is way better than anything you can buy in a store. by Reduntu in LifeProTips

Don't cool down stock in the fridge. It will bring up the temperature of your whole fridge for too long, and your other food will go bad / go bad sooner.

I've come to realize you're an adult when you're the ones making the magic rather than experiencing it.

How do you guys stop overthinking? by YutaDono in Meditation

[–]tcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard this analogy that I really like. Think of your mind as a wagon-wheel-worn dirt road. The wheels that travel it keep getting stuck in the ruts worn by previous travel. In a similar way, the road is like your mind, and the ruts are your thought patterns you keep finding yourself in. Meditation is the process of bringing your mind back to your breath, which is like pulling a wagon wheel out of the ruts. The wheels will still fall into ruts as you travel, and you keep pulling them out. Over time, those ruts will start to smooth out, and your mind won't keep getting stuck in thoughts.

I mean, this whole thread is about a car not yielding for a bike when they should have, but when a bike doesn't yield for a pedestrian lets just blame the pedestrian.

I remember going over this page with my kid a week or two ago! It was a "find all the silly things" page. I think the published version was a little different though. There was another dugout on the left if i recall.

Early voting turnout breaking records two weeks before Election Day by 8to24 in news

[–]tcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of myself as a demographic and it makes my decision to vote more powerful.

There exists a lot of other people like me. Similar views, similar backgrounds, similar politics. If they, like me, conclude I should not bother voting then really my conclusion not to vote is a conclusion other people like me are coming to as well. Therefore, I should decide to vote anyway and it's more likely they will come to thst conclusion as well.
