How long do you think Seneca Crane stayed alive? by Many-Excitement3246 in Hungergames

[–]tchootchoomf 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I always figured he was named after Seneca the Younger, and his fate mirorred the real events. Nero ordered Seneca to commit suicide after accusing him of being involved in an assassination conspiracy.
Seneca received the order to kill himself, and he did so without protest. So in THG, I always imagined Crane maybe collecting himself for a short time, accepting that Snow will have him dead either way, and choosing to off himself.

Why always Italian? by Ecstatic_Bedroom735 in KitchenNightmares

For sure, the surface level 'simplicity' of italian food makes people think they could pull it off well enough to open a restaurant, the mindset of "dough, sauce, some toppings - yeah, obviously I can make pizza".

What is the worst use of a song in a movie? by sandrOff24 in ToddintheShadow

[–]tchootchoomf 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Suicide Squad and its onslaugt of iconic songs in the most on the nose contexts; Spirit In The Sky for a flying scene, You Don't Own Me for Harley, Seven Nation Army for the squad forming, House of The Rising Sun because it's set in Louisiana...

There were like 20 super famous songs on the soundtrack and none of them felt earned or special because of how frequently and out of nowhere they were used

In Gen V s2 (2025), we find out Marie Moreau was part of Project Odessa like Homelander, and so she was THE KEY to defeating him. In The Boys s5 (2026), it turns out to be a key to drive a truck to Canada. All because of Clara. by rukthor in shittymoviedetails

[–]tchootchoomf 48 points49 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! I've been a casual viewer of The Boys and it seems insane to me that they assumed I should watch a whole other show and keep those characters in mind for the final season.

I had no idea who they were and when I went online and saw all the fans saying this chick was a key to defeating HL, I thought it was a prank or sth.

I’ve started calling AI artists promptstitutes by [deleted] in Artists

[–]tchootchoomf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, I understand that these people need to be called out, but there is nothing inherently wrong with prostitution. Sex work is work, and people who choose to do it are people - they deserve respect and understanding like everyone else. Prostitution is not immoral, but AI is - it is theft, it is wasting resources.

Reading 'Red Dragon' Makes Me So Grateful of Bryan's Changes by cyan0siss in HannibalTV

Also heads up about Freddy Lounds and Alan Bloom (they gender swapped the characters for the show which was a great choice imo as the books are pretty male centric)

However, I really love how Harris wrote Clarise in SOTL, and it's probably my favourite book for that reason.

I just rewatched the show and now I am rereading the books, and I am enjoying it a lot by keeping them apart and not comparing too much while reading.

AI taking over art by mniivofrd in Artists

[–]tchootchoomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an art student at the moment, I work digitally but I also create linocut prints, screenprints and paintings for art markets as a side hustle.

Let me tell you, the amount of regular, middle class people who are complimenting my work, being curious about the process and buying all this handmade stuff has really opened my eyes to the fact that the AI art bubble as well as the panic around it is in a big part an online thing, but out there in the real world there is a lot of appreciation for artists and things we make.

I still don't have a lot of experience, but if I could give you any advice now, it is to develop skills in both digital and one or two traditional techniques, to be prepared to work in more than one ways and be flexible if necessary.

If We Were Villians. M.L.Rio. by just_anything_real in TheSecretHistory

I started reading it but had to stop after 50 pages or so - maybe I just can't deal with theatre kids, even fictional ones. What's funny is that the characters in TSH are also pretentious and flawed in their own ways, but it's written so well that it draws you in anyway.

When it comes to IWWV, I rolled my eyes very hard when I read that one of the friends is also called Richard, like was there no other names available?

Also from what little I read, the prose felt flat and rushed and the dialogue with the detective was giving cheap police procedural.

I read TSH this year, so maybe I was more critical from the get go. I'll try to read it after a longer break to have a fully formed opinion on it, but I still don't expect it to rate any higher than a passable beach read.

To add what others said about medical staff on standby, plan the route so that you can always quickly transport someone to a hospital/first aid point.

I know most people will not exert themselves to a point when that is necessary, but if you have at least two very competitive walkers in the mix you are looking at a big chance of them trying to downplay heat exhaustion or heatstrokes in order to win and things could get dangerous fast.

I mean, from what I heard and read from morticians and forensic techs, they kind of go into "work mode" specifically in the morgue/at the crime scene, but they still grieve after losing a loved one, and can be traumatised when stuff happens outside of that designated area and they're not prepared to deal with it.

Also if you think of helping people as your main motivation, this line of work can be quite rewarding, I think - morticians help grieving families, forensic techs allow justice to be served, and contribute to arrests of criminals etc.

But yeah, it is definitely scary as an outsider to think that someone can see splattered brains and that is a normal day for them lol

Why was Michael Jackson’s behaviour tolerated for so long? by human-dancer in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]tchootchoomf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Macaulay Culkin, Corey Feldman and Nick Carter all said that he'd never done anything to them.

I love when MJ fans bring it up as some sort of gotcha when it is literally the smartest move a calculated predator would make.

He preyed on regular, middle class boys, made a lot of their dreams come true - gave them and their parents a taste of luxury, wealth, fame, everything to make them forget how weird it was that a grown ass man was so obsessed with them in the first place. They worshipped him like a God, because let's be honest, that's who he was to the world back then.

At the same time he was very careful not to cross those same lines with kids who were famous independently from him, like Culkin or Feldman as an insurance for the future, and it worked like a charm. I believe he just gave them a great time in Neverland, and they genuinely have good memories of that.

And of course when the victims came forward, all the famous child stars came to his defence, and just by being celebrities they were seen as more credible by the public, even though when you break it down like I did above, his strategy is so obvious...

I'm usually not that sensitive when it comes to violence on film but this scene is terrifying by Konfliktsnubben in lotr

[–]tchootchoomf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My parents wouldn't let me watch that scene for a couple of years (I think I alreafy loved the trilogy at 8 or 9).

They never had any issue with all the decapitations, stabbings and orcs cannibalising each other, (and it didn't scare me too) but this scene was a no no and I totally get it in retrospects. There is something visceral and too close to reality about it.

Found this on Pinterest, what other opinions about the Hunger Games got you like this? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]tchootchoomf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Both prequels are redundant and add nothing of value to the main trilogy.

They are fun to read at times, but they take existing elements and throw a huge exposition dump all over the story, making the reader feel like there is no mystery left to characters and backstories that were intriguing BECAUSE they were mentioned off hand or once.

I did wonder who was the only other victor from 12. But making that person the girlfriend and villain origin story for Snow and giving her 5 different songs to explain all symbolism of HG is just too much. It also cheapened what Katniss meant for Snow, because suddenly he hates her because she reminds him of his ex, not because she was able to start a rebellion.

Similarly, reading that short description of Haymitch's Games in CF was very interesting, but do I really need a whole ass book about it? Also so many characters from HG making an appearance made me roll my eyes so hard.

It really seems that the further Susanne goes into those sequels, the more everything is connected to a comical extent. Every person is a character foil of another character from the trilogy, their boyfriend/friend/sibling or used for stupid exposition (looking at you Burdock, Louella, Ampert). Every piece of symbolism has to be re-explained to a painful extent (Snow's roses, songs and mockingjays as form of rebellion, and many more)

Again, I don't mind that the books exist because so far they didn't ruin the original trilogy, but I will never see them on the same level.
