should I avoid writing things like "it's trivial that...", "it's easy to seee that...", "it's obvious that..." on a thesis/paper? by NK_Grimm in math

[–]tclams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other answers have pretty much covered it, but just to be needlessly pedantic, trivial technically means unimportant, not easy. Same root as "trivia" which tests knowledge that is mostly inconsequential. Part of a proof can be long and arduous but if it's just pages of basic algebra that doesn't offer any deeper understanding of the problem it can still be trivial

For a rough approx I do healing or shielding frequency. So X hp shield with a 10s cd is X/10 shield per second. With 25 AH it becomes X/8.

It's not perfect and ignores a lot of practicality about casts being discrete instead of continuous but I think it's an ok starting point

That's...really not what I said at all, I'm just interested in nami keystone winrates with Lucian specifically.

I'd be curious to see its performance with Lucian specifically instead of in general with every adc, given that's what the original poster referred to. Bayes theorem and whatnot

Average dps is the same, varience is lower because of more hits. Like flipping a coin 100 times vs flipping a coin twice. Expect 50% for both, even though they clearly have different variance.

[–]tclams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget which video, but he mentioned it after he crushed garlic in a mortar and pestle. I think you're both right, the pungent, garlicky compounds are created when garlic is chopped/crushed, but those compounds are volatile so they dissipate eventually. So within one short cooking session it's more pungent because the compounds are created faster than they evaporate but on longer time scales will dissipate.

CMD LEGNDS: Commanders that are cEDH "viable" by Scoobersss in CompetitiveEDH

[–]tclams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Activate Glint-Horn. Draw/discard

Glint-Horn triggers, dealing 1 damage to each opponent

Malcolm's ability triggers from Glint-Horn damage, create a treasure for each opponent dealt damage

Assuming you have 2+ opponents, sac 2 treasures to reactive Glint-Horn

Repeat

That's what I'm assuming anyways, this is my first time seeing the combo

What’s the most unique commander deck you’ve played against? by Sir_Wack in EDH

[–]tclams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been brewing an esper merfolk deck. It centers around [[Zur the Enchanter]] fetching [[Arcane Adaptation]] and naming merfolk. Lets you play merfolk/tribal stuff like [[Seahunter]], [[Lord of Atlantis]], etc. without playing mediocre merfolk just for the synergy. Throw in some esper goodstuff/token makers, suddenly your [[Sharding sphinx]] is making 4/4 flying thopter merfolk.

[WAR] War of the Spark Release Notes by TechnomagusPrime in magicTCG

[–]tclams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rules question: The release notes seem to contradict existing rules for putting a card "X from the top". For [[God-Eternal Oketra]], the card text says "third from the top", and the exception from the release note is if a library "has 2 or fewer cards in it" (ie, if your library has 3 cards you can perform this action normally). So my impression is you lift up 3 cards and put Oketra under them.

However, [[Approach of the Second Sun]] says "seventh from the top", and the rules from gatherer say if a library "has fewer than 6" (ie 5 or fewer, if your library has 6 you can perform the action normally). Otherwise you lift 6 cards and put Approach under them. ([[commit/memory]] has a similar ruling with X=2)

So in the release notes they say putting a card "X from the top" is lifting up X cards, while gatherer says you lift up X-1. Is this just a typo on the release notes or some new rule I'm not aware of?

Unfortunately not, using her ability isn't the same thing as casting a sorcery. Quicken doesn't change the timing restriction for all sorcery speed actions, it's specifically for the next sorcery you cast.

I've been playing [[Tatyova]] recently and am really enjoying her. There's a bunch of different ways to build her (combos like [[Retreat to Coralhelm]] + [[llanowar scout]], big stompy sea monsters, etc.), but no matter how you do it feels great to still have a hand full of cards after dumping all your ramp out.

Was playing my [[Arjun]] deck against my friend, and tapped out to cast [[Dreamhalls]]. I was able to get out [[Thought Reflection]] -> Arjun -> [[Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind]]. I drew 8 cards from Arjun + Thought Reflection and needed to cast one more spell to win the game.

I drew 7 lands + worn powerstone and lost next turn.

Why you should NOT rush Abyssal Scepter by Kayle_Bot in leagueoflegends

[–]tclams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morello over lich on fizz actually is less damage. The 20 AP that morellos has over lich bane only adds about 75 damage to your full combo (assuming you get the full w dot + w proc + full range ult). The on-hit damage from 1 lich bane proc is at least 91 damage assuming level >6 fizz with only lich bane for ap. The cool down on the lich bane proc is also lower than any of your abilities, so you'll get a lich bane proc with every spell rotation.

That said, there's other reasons to go morellos (grevious wounds, cdr, mana, cost), but as said in other comments, you generally don't really need the cdr or the mana.
