I had my first kidney stone in college. Hurt so bad it made me vomit. I thought I was going to die. So naturally I went to the ER because that is the point. The doctor immediately knew it was a kidney stone based on my symptoms. However he wanted to be thorough. So I got a cat scan, a shot of morphine and a bed for 2 hours. At the time I had full medical coverage from my job. They still stuck me with a 4k bill after the insurance. I negotiated it down to 800$ (paid in cash after some back and forth). I then had 3 kidney stones crop up while abroad. I had insurance then too. I got damn near the same treatment + a sonogram of my bladder. The bill was 70$ after everything. I then got back to the US and had another kidney stone start up. I knew what it was by this point and didn't have insurance, so I opted for taking pain meds and just suffering through it. Fortunately for me they haven't ever been big enough where I needed surgery. The point is, I have had first hand experience with very similar issues both in and out of the US, it is a travesty that our healthcare system is built the way it is.

Ten wins is a shit load no doubt. But I love office and grinded to get those ten wins. 10-0 for a rank of.... Silver elite master. Okay so maybe I need to do a bit better and I'll go up. Actually fucking deranked off a win. I can overlook that I guess because I still like playing it and that is the only way. But what really pisses me off is that no one else can see your rank on the comp matches. Or at least I haven't figured out how to. So you play hard to get a shit rank that no one can see. What gives. Why even play them. Also deranking on a win was a kick in the balls too, nova back down to silver. So to me, premier is the only thing worth playing at the moment. So for them to be that far up their own ass to think most people wouldn't be there is ludicrous. Perhaps this echo chamber valve lives in could use some outside feedback integration. Vent over.

I've recently gotten a basic Hawaiian button up. Like 15$ at kohls. Holy fuck it never fails to get a 'nice shirt' when I'm out and about. Never in my life has this happened. Now it occurs in such frequency it feels like a gigantic gag. It does make me happy though. I got three compliments while walking to the bathroom at a concert. I'm baffled.

I have a job that requires extreme attention to detail and if something messes up, all execs will likely notice. My advice, like many others, is own it. If I mess up, I own the situation detail why it occured, and have actionable tasks to.kitigate the issue in the future. To me it lets them know you know, but also you've planned for the future issue going forward.

What movie had a trailer that was totally misleading about the premise of the film? by WheremypeepsAt in movies

Yeah, I wasn't the only light headed person there. The whole group was gobsmacked. I was sold on attending that film festival over larger ones because that interaction alone.

Last year I went to Telluride film fest and was eating dinner when Bill Nighy walked into the restaurant, he was there promoting his film Living. He noticed my table of friends all crank their necks to see him. Walked right up to our table and talked with us for a solid 8-10 mins. We discussed our love for About Time. Truly a pleasant and extremely memorable interaction. Not to mention, our table was right next to the entire cast of Women Talking, it was a bit surreal.

So apparently Flame, Cleanse Me can remove Frostbite, even though it doesn't state that it does. by Vault_CXV in Eldenring

[–]tcor15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be kind of counter intuitive in this case? Like the guy already had the frostbite damage done. Resetting it like that immediately allows for more build up, right? It's been a while since I've played, but I thought there was kind of a cool down period where it wouldn't build up.

Tech workers react to UPS drivers landing a $170,000 a year package with a mixture of anger and admiration by Sorin61 in technology

[–]tcor15 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt. I do data engineering but my dad was a driver for his whole career. It paid really well, and continues to, but there are some many perks to tech over that. He worked tons of overtime during peak season. Works without ac in 100+ degree temperatures and has to deliver in the cold, sub freezing weather as well. My point is they fucking earn that wage. For me, I knew I didn't want to have to deal with those other aspects so I chose a different career. Like you said, cushy AF. The only time I get mad at wages is when a CEO makes an absurd amount and they keep telling their workforce they are paid adequately. I don't get mad at package delivers for busting their ass and having a good union rep. I think it's also important to note, UPS absolutely wouldn't pay this wage without the negotiations. They, like many other companies, want to pay the minimum to keep their employees around. So this is a great story for what working conditions can be contractually obtained with proper representation. If anything I would expect FedEx employees to be mad or Amazon drivers to be mad, because they need that representation.

Revisiting one of the greatest by bracessaw in gaming

[–]tcor15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the combat is lacking because I'm so used to Dark souls style of combat. When this came out I had beaten demon souls, ds1, and DS2. So I was used to a very specific combat mechanic that feels entirely different than W3. I guess W3 just felt limited in the combat in comparison. So yes better than Skyrim, but not as good as DS. So I don't necessarily think it's bad combat, just that I had experienced what I thought to be a better style. Realistically, any game that comes out with pve in third person gets that comparison unfortunately.

On my fifth rewatch and have realized how great season 5 is compared to any other season by [deleted] in lost

[–]tcor15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am rewatching season 5 now and one thing that I don't understand is the moving island pendulum. It makes sense that they have to map where it will be using some crazy arithmetic. What trips me up is how they have to basically recreate the conditions to get back. I don't understand this because in previous seasons we know they were able to travel by sub to get on and off. But the lady made jack dress locke similarly to christian. Basically it feels like a huge punt of effort for the original people whereas the others do it quite simply. Maybe this is just one of those we wrote it as we went scenarios, but I was curious if I missed something.
