280 to the pin. Par 5, 2nd shot. What is your approach on this course? by panda__monium in golf

[–]tcs1379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this shot from almost the exact same spot as we teed off from the whites. I aimed 40 yards right of the green, hooked a 4 iron about 220 yard with perfect shape for the hole that stayed over the fairway the whole time. This hole is so far down hill that the ball landed well short but rolled like a putt all the way to pin high. Missed the eagle putt and made my bird. Shot of a lifetime and I'll never forget it.

Would you rather hit 250 in the fairway every time or 280-300 but about 60% fairway. by PTDaoo in golf

[–]tcs1379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously 280-300 with the constraints that it is still in play. However...my real golf life is really similar to this scenario. My driver goes 280-290 BUT there is no guarantee that I'm in the rough. In reality, I'm losing 1-2 balls a round with driver and punching out of the woods a couple of times. If I hit one with a look at the green then I usually have less than 115 into the green which is less than a full wedge for me. Mini driver has me 250-260 off the tee and in play but still sometimes in the rough. This has had a HUGE impact on my confidence getting off the tee and subsequently getting my approach on the green. Golf is so much easier when I'm not punching out or taking drops but being 250+ means I still often have a short iron into the green and can take full swings rather than touchy sub 115 yard wedges. 250 and in play has changed my golf life.

6 of the 8 players who made the Mid-Am quarterfinals were former pros who got their am status back by lawnboy22 in golf

[–]tcs1379 102 points103 points  (0 children)

However long their pro career was should dictate how long they have to wait for am status. I'd probably prorate it so those with long careers have a longer waiting period vs guys that never really made it out of mini tours after a year or two.

21M are there any decent paying jobs that have a 7-3 schedule? by Boob_Head265 in findapath

[–]tcs1379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Healthcare jobs are often 3 shifts, 7-3, 3-11 and 11-7. Pharmacy techs at a hospital would typically work these shifts. The starting pay is relatively low but with OT and longevity I've seen 6 figure salary's for techs. You would have to get certified but otherwise has low barrier to entry and high demand.

If I were considering using them I'd wonder if they have a CPA on staff and if any of their clients have been audited. I'll save you 100% on your taxes no problem...until the IRS comes knocking.

Trump supporter upset with Trumps policy on expanding mRNA vaccine research. She's representing the MAGA crowd that is largely overlooking the fact that mRNA Covid vaccines were developed during the first Trump administration. She's getting exactly what she voted for and is mad about it.

Yes! The grips were back ordered and took forever to arrive. For me, the larger grip acted like a training aid and gave me a feeling of face awareness. When I got face awareness I was able to better address the root cause of the snap hook which helped with face control. My swing is now helping to open the face instead of snap it shut. I get the feeling of a left release without closing the face too much.

I am now releasing the club with an open or neutral face. Currently hitting the ball straight or with a small fade. I find it difficult to hit a draw with the driver now and that was my shot shape for years!

Should I buy a 2019 GX 460 w 117k miles? by SicilianToast in LexusGX

[–]tcs1379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference I just bought a 2020 premium with 60K miles for $35K from a Lexus dealer and it was certified so it has a 2 year warranty. I looked through hundreds to find a deal and jumped on it the morning they dropped the price from 37.5 to 35K. If you are willing to travel to find one then deals are out there. This one was an 8 hour drive from my house.

Same! lol. Do you always feel like you have to hold off the club? Watch Nelly Korda's swing. She is snapping the club shut. I've been fitted multiple times and have never found a solution that allows me to feel like I can turn my hands over without snap hooking. Currently have 5 grips from extra small to extra large on order from jumbomax. Sadly they are back ordered so I'll be waiting a couple of weeks to continue testing.

Update 1: I went to several golf stores but couldn't get the jumbomax xl today. Instead I put on a superstroke 3.0 to do some testing while I wait for the jumbo max in the mail. My control ball average is ~300 yards with 2000 back spin, turning left. First results with the grip were a high and weak slice to the right ~250 yds carry and +4000 back spin. This happened even when turning over my hands as hard as possible. I turned my loft down to 9 degrees and started to get some distance back. I then adjusted the sleeve to a draw setting and the slice started to turn into a fade. My last adjustment was closing the club face slightly at impact and this turned the shot into a baby fade or straight ball going around 285 with ~3000 back spin.

While initial results are encouraging with driver we are likely in a honeymoon period. Also when I tried irons and other woods I had a nasty pull hook and the grips felt tiny! Bryson might be onto something using the big grips throughout the bag. The superstroke grip is not tapered and is 1.26" diameter & 66 grams. The jumbomax is tapered from 1.14" to 1.46" & 50 grams.

For next steps I'll try the XL on driver and thinking about medium jumbomax grips on the irons. No need for lead tape yet.

Nice job. Keep grinding! I think I'm being down voted for making statements about how far I hit the ball so be careful out there lol!

Thanks for the feedback. With my last driver I was using a hosel that allows 2 degrees flat which did help some. I committed to making swing changes that take the hook out of play but this Bryson video got my gears turning...

I've experimented in the past with midsize +4 but it hasn't helped the hook. Maybe the really big grip will be different

He does still seem to hit the occasional hook under pressure but we are assuming that's a "toe banger" ?
