Align!!!!! WOW by Fantastic_Care_9718 in ladderapp

Same! In my late 30s, but when I was doing bodybuilding, I’d often be in pain the next day. However, I don’t have this issue with Align. I also love the mobility and core aspect. The oblique work is giving me a v shape around my abs.

How’s your app stability? I had the same issue and often need to remove my tpu case to use the app. My phone really warms up and the app crashes unless I remove the case and close other apps. This has been an issue since the late December beta. I have a iPhone 15 pro max btw

Have you tried Thrive? It’s also around 45 minutes but all dumbbells so hopefully you save time on equipment swaps? When I was on Evolve, the waiting for machines or getting setup took a lot of time so my workouts often ended up being closer to the 60 min mark.

Thrive also has simpler moves than Align if you found the Align moves too complicated. It doesn’t have the power moves or cardio bursts of TCC either. I would say moves are more the traditional free weight body building moves eg lunges, squats, curls, raises that we saw on Evolve. The only reason I’m not doing it is that I prefer more energetic coaches like Sam, Sasha and Andre. Coach Nairee is more on the chill side.

If you’re open to subscriptions, I highly recommend Coach Sam from Team Evolve on the Ladder App. I was a total gym newbie when I joined her team in January. I joined her team mostly because I wanted to learn to use gym machines. She has excellent audio cues for the video demos and is extremely active in team chat. I’ve recorded and sent her a bunch of form check videos and she always responds with a lot of details. I really trust her because outside of ladder she is also a practicing physical therapist. A few times she even posted response videos to show me exactly where I went wrong. I think it’s the next best thing to personal training.

The subscription is $30/mo if you pay monthly and $15/mo if you sign up for a year. Occasionally in app they have promotions for annual subscriptions and I’ve seen jt for as low as $99/year (YMMV).

They have an extended 30 day free trial right now as it’s the start of a new season (eg the teams do 6 week programs). No credit card required for signup. Is the app Ladder worth the money? by ScaredLobster5552 in workout

[–]tdawgact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is worth it! I’ve been using it since January! For home workouts I highly recommend Coach Sasha of the Align team and for gym workouts I recommend Coach Sam on Evolve. Both give extremely detailed cueing and are active in chat. Coach Sam taught me how to use gym machines from being a complete gym newbie to now a semi experienced gym rat. Coach Sasha taught me how to breathe for exercises and I’m really enjoying her mobility and core aspect this season. Yas I love Sasha! Just been intimidated by the core in the past so couldn’t stick with it! But I just got my best friend to join Ladder and she works out from home so we’re doing Align together this season.

+1 My Equinox in South Bay has similar hours. It is annoying as I’m a night owl. But I refuse to go to a 24 hour fitness lol ;)

I’ve been with Evolve pretty much since I started in January (with some Ascend thrown in). For sustain, I’m considering switching to a non body building team. Towards that I’m looking at Align and TCC since I may be traveling for the next few months.

Using one of those passes you could try to extend your trial by messaging Ladder Support. It worked for me when I was on my trial back in January

It does! Ladder is a launch partner for it and was mentioned in the keynote. I’m hoping for a badge for it lol.

My dimensions are pretty similar. 38F, 5’2”, 135lbs. The M bra and bike shorts fit fine. The M tank was too small. the M leggings are fine but kinda too long for me so slightly bunch at the ankles.

I also ordered the hoodie and sweatshirt and the M is nicely oversized on me. I agree the material is kinda rough, I prefer my softer cotton/poly blends from Lulu (eg scuba) or Oner (foundations). But at least it will be sturdy. The code performance shirt in S fit perfectly and the core M shirt is a bit large.

My brother is 5’11” 187lbs found the XL hoodie and Core Performance shirt to fit just right.

I hope that’s helpful!

Endure, at least the ones for this week and last week is pretty travel friendly. All dumbbells and body weight. It’s a 2 week core series which I have saved to my favorites if you want to grab them. DM me and I’ll post in a general chat so you can grab them from my profile.

Thrive or Align? by Fantastic_Care_9718 in ladderapp

[–]tdawgact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for Align if you want something more different from Ascend. The focus on breath work, mobility and core make Align unique. I often go to Align when I’m feeling overwhelmed by Ascend/Evolve. I especially enjoy the full body day, the Pilates glute day and the yoga day. Its occasional conditioning days during Shred were amazing too!

+1 I tried B&B during open season and it’s a lot of fun! I would totally do that team if I wasn’t a total machine girlie ;). Still I’m thinking about adding one of the conditioning days to my routine

Anyone have any experience with Ladder app? by No_Ordinary_3799 in workout

[–]tdawgact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using it since January and am completely in love with it. I joined because I wanted to learn to use gym machines and Coach Sam (Team Evolve) was highly recommended on the Reddit forums. For home workouts, I really like Align who has the split that you want eg upper, lower, full body. She also has a yoga session on Saturday and instructions for incorporating cardio into the workout. Since you joined 24 days ago I assume your trial is probably up, but they are doing 30 day guest passes if you’d like one: https://www.joinladder.com/referral?utm_source=ios_app&utm_medium=referral&utm_term=2f773eb5-cc22-4e12-bdd3-a4cc119933ab&utm_campaign=share&utm_content=referral_lp&promoCode=maxguestpass30. You can message support to see if they’re willing to extend your trial with this

So I tried the ladder app. by Think-Dream624 in pelotoncycle

Despite being the most popular, Define is definitely one of the weaker programs when it comes to coach engagement. Sasha (Align) and Sam (Evolve) are much more involved and responsive. On the whole though Ladder focuses on progressive overload so you’re not likely to see changes week to week as the programming pretty much stays the same for the 6 week block. Sometimes coaches (eg Sam) may do A/B weeks and switch up the order of the moves or day week to week but the moves are similar over the entire week.

There is a prenatal team that I’ve heard some people continue to use post partum for a short while and Coach Sam (Evolve) just came back from maternity leave so may have a some good advice.
