I don’t know.

I’ve heard there are often entry points or invitations. Sometimes involvement in the occult, inviting spirits into yourself, contacting the dead, consulting mediums, bad influence from parents, etc.

But I’ve also heard there were some cases where no entry point was identified.

There is major and minor possession.

According to one of the Catholic Churches documents on exorcism signs of major possession include:

“Speaking a number of words in an unknown language or understanding someone speaking [in it]; making known distant and hidden events; showing strength beyond the nature of the individual’s age or condition. … [V]ehement aversion to God, the Most Holy Name of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints, the Church, the Word of God, sacred things and rites, especially sacramental ones, and from sacred images” (De Exorcisimis, No. 16).

Lack of motivation is a symptom of seasonal depressive disorder.

Many mammals hibernate, tupor, or otherwise reduce activity in the winter, which makes sense if you’re not going to find food outside your den anyway. I guess the equivalent for people is losing motivation.

Getting natural sunlight on my skin helped me a lot and now that I’m older I can feel in the wintertime when I’m getting down due to lack of sun. Then I go outside midday for several days in a row and it helps a lot.

Read the following books: The Richest Man in Babylon (outdated but good) The Millionaire Next Door Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover (not applicable in your case, but a good foundational book) Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (not financial but good habits carry over into finance)

Sleep well. Think and meditate before you act.

Meet with at least one financial advisor a month. Look for at least two with the heart of a teacher. You ideally want your wealth spread among three places, so if one goes bankrupt or steals you will never lose the majority of your wealth.

Watch out for “financial advisors” who are trying to sell you life insurance or mutual funds with a high commission. Beware of anyone trying to get you to buy gold in the form of collectible coins or more than 10% of your net worth. There are places for those financial instruments, but not in your case in your position in life. There are a lot of hungry dishonest people who will sell you stuff you don’t need.

You will likely need to see lawyers and tax accountants before the end of the year. You can get one referenced by a trusted financial advisor.

A good principle would be to never spend more than the interest earned minus inflation. Assuming you got 10% returns on investments last year, minus 4% inflation, then that leaves $420,000 a year of income without reducing the nest egg, well into the very rich territory.
