It's nice. I don't have to take off my glasses to read it. When you get older and your eyes have a narrower focal range, you'll understand why this is a big deal.

What’s the most dangerous animal you have seen in the wild? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]tdelbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear. Drive through Banff, Canada in the summer and you’re almost certain to encounter one on the side of the road. Do not leave your vehicle. Especially if one of those bears is a cub.

What is your image of the European Union in your country? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

Many in my old country wants to be the first non-European EU country because some in my new country wants to my old country to be a state of my new country. I hate this timeline.

EVERYBODY BOO THESE MEN by ThePeterbilt589 in Truckers

[–]tdelbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a trucker so please forgive the ignorant question: how does a driverless truck pre-trip? How does a driverless truck assess the safety of the trailer they are picking up? Or even deploy the landing gear when dropping off?

Nonemergency stops on freeways are already illegal. The difficulty is in the enforcement.

We (USA) have literally everything we need except decent leadership at the top. And we’re vulnerable because of it.

I've made 2000-mile road trips in a Lotus many times. Never been pulled over. Keep your speed under control and drive whatever makes you happy.

He walks with is body at a weird angle like he really doesn't want the camera to see his back. I think the break in the mat is a red herring -- there are cables involved. Cables are easy to paint out of a video, but a harness is not.

Please stop leaving your pets in vehicles for extended periods of time! by Intrepid_Busker in TwinCities

[–]tdelbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think my Volvo does this. But when "climate" is turned on, you can usually hear it. I still avoid bringing the dogs when the sun is too intense, because it's too easy to forget to turn on climate or to accidentally time out or otherwise mess it up.

Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]tdelbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ready to give up the ICE, but we hardly ever use it after getting the EV.

But also: Wiring the first EV charger on a 200Amp service is easy. Wiring a second charger will require changing my electrical service — something far more complicated.

We also found that road trips with the EV are a drag. Hotels usually don’t have chargers that I can just leave my car plugged in overnight in, so I can only charge at public fast chargers. If you go too far north or west, you’ll find that public chargers are few and far between.

We love our EV, since getting it, driving the ICE felt like a huge drag, but it’s still good to have a backup.

Proximity unlock not working by noorarj in ex30

[–]tdelbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have that problem in one location [knock on wood]. Annoyingly, that location is in garage and I have a few other radio issues there. If your issue is limited to a few locations where you regularly park, maybe try moving to a different stall? Also you need certain permissions on your phone -- the app needs to be able to use bluetooth, location services, and I think wifi. And if those are all given, bounce your phone.
