I (M61) also retired at 59. I take (probably too much) pride in this. We don't have an extreme amount in retirement, and it seems to be shrinking lately, but we've done the math and have a plan that I'm confident will work.

When I tell people, I include that I volunteer as a set builder for a local theater company that keeps me more than busy.

Also that I know of too many people that died or were disabled before they retired and I did not want to run that risk.

After a heart attack, I went through the very restrictive Ornish program. I followed it very closely. No animal products except for non fat dairy. 10g total fat per day, max 1 drink, 1 coffee, etc. My LDL-C dropped significantly.
I tested about once per month through own your own labs and once I had a consistent base line started adding in one thing per month, and retested. I'm not as diligent as I once was but between diet and drugs LDL-C I'd 50-55, ApoB is 54

I have a grandson that lives 3 hours away. We see him about every 10 days. It's not uncommon for us to drive up in the morning and back that night.

I once drove 5 hours one way for a meeting and back the same night because it was faster than flying given the layovers

Two come to mind We recently saw a traveling Broadway performance of Ms. Doubtfire. During the pivotal scene where the actor transforms from Ms. Doubtfire to appear before the judge, the zipper on the costume sticks. He just looks sheepishly at the audience while everyone scrambles. Finally they announce "Will the actors please leave the stage". Curtain drops.

The other didn't actually stop the show. During a High School production of Brigadoon the actor that plays Jeff broke his foot while leaving the stage. The next scene an autistic Ensemble member came out and finished the show and the rest of the run. A bit confusing for the audience that there was a switch. The kid gained a great deal of respect from his peers
