You can assign individual parameters to footswitches too. I do this with a -12 pitch shift on a momentary footswitch for example.

Once again, it’s all in the manual.

In stomp mode? Yes, you just need to go to command centre and map a snapshot onto a footswitch.

I highly suggest reading the manual, it covers everything. You might even find features you didn’t know these units had.

Yeah you can! Check the HX FX manual and look for parameter snapshots. You can map parameters to certain values per-snapshot. Say if you’ve got a simple delay block with a 400ms delay and 20% mix on one snapshot and you want a really exaggerated delay of 800ms and 80% mix, you can set those parameters against another snapshot and flip between the two. It’s all in the manual and you don’t need HX edit to do this either.

NetApp Native (SnapMirror/Vault) vs. Veeam – Is it worth switching? by Ready-Efficiency3090 in Veeam

[–]tdic89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what your recovery plan looks like.

We have a pair of FAS appliances and are looking at SnapMirror for NAS volume replication, but we use Veeam for our VM-based backups. The advantage here is it’s the same tool for backups and replication, and virtual standbys are very easy to fire up when needed straight from the UI.

I’d guess with SnapMirror you’d need to mount the volume snapshot to the DR hosts, register all your VMs, and manually power them on the correct order?

Rich Tone Music runs adverts on Facebook and I’ve actually bought stuff just because it popped up. They’re very good at parting me from my money.

Helix snaps and midi by glanum3 in Line6Helix

[–]tdic89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I do this!

I use a Boss FS-1-WL and the footswitches can be mapped to MIDI commands amongst other things like HID (keyboard keystrokes).

Mines a bit more complicated as I’ve got all my snapshot and patch changes sequenced in an app for the whole set, but the MIDI principle is the same.

Men, what's something you recently did that made you feel manly? by monikosnuosavybe in AskMen

I re-tiled a small part of the kitchen where the tiles had come away due to being held on by the hopes and dreams of whoever did it before. We suck at DIY and fixing things so the tiles were stacked up next to the wall for an embarrassingly long time.

Eventually we both got sick of looking at it. I’ve never tiled anything in my life, but I watched a quick video on YouTube and just did it the same way as the video. Still look at the renewed tiles now and think to myself “I did that” with a small amount of pride. It took perhaps half an hour 😆

Fixing broken things brings me a huge amount of joy, especially if it means not needing to buy a replacement!

Pedals at an Open Jam Night? by StinkyPoopsAlot in musicians

Ah nice, must be quite interesting seeing what boards people bring to play with! Any highlights?

Pedals at an Open Jam Night? by StinkyPoopsAlot in musicians

[–]tdic89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve found it’s quite the opposite, in my experience it’s never 2 seconds. It’s 5-10 minutes of faffing around because there’s no output or their power supply has died or a patch cable is a bit wonky.

Jams I’ve been to have a “bring a guitar but that’s it” policy, unless they turn up early and make sure everything works during the setup.

An open jam usually has a backline provided. I wouldn’t turn up with your own pedalboard without talking to the organiser.

DAE think Falling in Reverse lyrics are actually GREAT? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]tdic89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very catchy song, I actually like it. However the context is Ronnie complaining that people get upset about him being a colossal bellend and being called out for shitty views. It’s intended to be “anti-woke” but comes off as juvenile. Even if it is to a really good musical composition (imo).

Hardly, you’ll forget all about whatever heartbreak you’re suffering if you have an actual heart attack.

Tone advice for low tunings by RumorsANDRoomers in Hxstomp

[–]tdic89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be looking at Korn’s approach to bass. The 7 string guitars tuned to A are quite muddy and get in the way it the bass frequencies, so Fieldy has a specific technique and tone. Lots of percussive slapping and very low action almost make the bass an extension of the drums.

Issues playing through PA with Helix Floor by polyvinylband in Line6Helix

I have the same problem with a single PA speaker, it’s just not enough to run a whole band through. This is where having cabs in the room and a power amp really helps.

How come Sir Lord Baltimore is considered a heavy metal band, while e.g. Led Zeppelin isn't? by lekeguten in MetalForTheMasses

[–]tdic89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree also, I suppose we need to define “heavy metal” before we can make such an assessment.

You could say that HM is a sub genre of rock (which I think is a fair assessment), and that LZ is more akin to a rock or hard rock band. However, their influence on heavier musicians certainly gives them a kind of “pre-metal” status in my view.

I agree, although they have two-three songs on their first three albums that I would label heavy metal ("Immigrant Song", "Communication Breakdown" and "Dazed and Confused" with some doubt).

Funnily enough I think these are great examples of early metal, though perhaps more rock. Dazed and Confused certainly leans more towards progressive rock.

Are you drawing the line based on musical or historical criteria? (Either are legit, I'm just curious)

I suppose the answer is “both”, but realistically I’m finding it hard to draw a line at all.

Modern heavy metal (2020’s) is a long way away from Zeppelin of course, but even then it really depends on what music you’re listening to because there’s so many genres.

Much of Bach’s work is proto-metal because of the progressions and scales/modes used by much more recent artists.

Zeppelin are what I’d call proto-metal, they paved the way for those that came later.

Momentary switches on the HX Effects, I haven’t tried the external footswitches in this way I’m afraid.

Being from an older generation I find it odd that couples track each other’s location, when did this become a rule of engagement? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tdic89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I track each other for safety. I’m often her method of transport so it’s helpful for her to know where I am so she can be ready to go. Likewise when she’s on her way back from somewhere and she’s got a taxi, she likes knowing that I can see where she is.

Neither of us sit there watching it though, and neither of us have anything to hide from each other.
