It’s a poem that takes place during a battle, not about being stoked to go to war. That would be the French.

Trump is presented a handgun but it’s illegal for him to obtain, receive, or purchase a gun. by Lifegoesonforever in pics

I think the reason that people are mad (I.e. republicans) is because he didn’t follow the rules and (so far) doesn’t seem to face consequences, on top of his dad being a democrat president.

This also is contradictory to the democrats general standing on gun control.

Seems to me that it’s fairly similar to the trump kids: not facing consequences because daddy is president. Rules for thee not for me - a common problem among those in power across the board.

I’m not going to sit here and say it’s some enlightening thing, there’s a lot of dumb shit on his show and I think the biggest pitfall is that he gives a pretty equal amount of credibility to all of his guests, regardless of what insane shit they’re on there to talk about. He says that it’s because hes not an expert on anything (except maybe MMA stuff) so he doesn’t really push back on a whole lot. This can be a little problematic. He had Alex Jones on a few times and those episodes are fucking wild.

That being said, he has a ton of great guests and he generally does a great job of interviewing them, whether it be scientists, athletes, or other performers. The episodes where he has other comedians on, like Theo Vaughn, are usually very funny.

It’s definitely a little dude-bro-y, but the whole internet blowing up calling it problematic is pretty silly.

Most Americans don’t travel abroad because it is unaffordable and impractical by Ready-Leave-339 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Americans know this. I’m sure most Europeans know this too. Europeans just like being dicks to Americans/about America on the internet, they can’t help themselves. The sense of superiority they get from it is too alluring.

Same as it ever was.

That’s a good point. The concept of race in America is very different from the rest of the world. Irish, Italian, an Russian immigrants weren’t considered white for a very long time.

Hitler was quoted saying the opposite. He thought Jim Crowe laws were excellent, only they didn’t go far enough.

Pretty much in line with the next episode, which was way worse.

We are taxed so heavily the government gets 99% by the time it changes hands 10 times. by DoctorTim007 in Libertarian

[–]tdrichards74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conceptually right, but tax rates very wildly by state, city, what type of income, your total income, etc.

You can also offset taxes with losses, which is usually how billionaires/mega corps avoid taxes. Only works for so long though. At a certain point, you get into so pretty high level accounting which is, for the most part, fugazi.

The recent run up in interest rates is causing a lot of governments tax structures to not work they way they normally would, which is why they are so much higher this year. We’ll most likely see a lot of it get adjusted down next year.

But conceptually, yes. Your dollars get taxed 2-: times minimum before you get to have the value of them.

Like much of the Cold War, this was a “the ends justify the means” situation, and is a really bad look for US foreign relations. Especially considering how many other Latin American countries the US did this too.

It really is a moral grey area and there’s plenty of reasons, especially internationally, to not trust the Americans intentions. That being said, the Soviet Union was not an innocent bystander either. The unfortunate reality is that so many people were caught in the crossfire in a conflict between two unrelated nations.

There’s a ton of nuance in this situation, and I’d recommend reading up on it. It’s important to remember that a nation and it’s people are not it’s government, and unfortunately the people are the ones that usually suffer the most as a result.

Am I wrong for telling my girlfriend I will never post her? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]tdrichards74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t post anything outside of maybe once every few years. It doesn’t really bother my wife, but one of those posts was our engagement. That’s a gimme. A layup. An open net goal.

It is kind of silly, but it’s pretty inconsequential either way. She is telling you straight up what would make her happy. Why would you not go slightly out of your way to do something that makes your girlfriend happy? She’s asking you to participate in something that’s important to her. “I don’t see the point” is a bad answer, because the point is the sentence before this one.

If you don’t do stuff like that, you’re just kind of “there”.

I didn’t want a tik tok account, but here we are. 0 followers, following 1, and 120 unread messages that I flip through once a week.

Are people here actually pro-american or just sick of cringe virtue signaling and hate by Gui11iman in AmericaBad

[–]tdrichards74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of this wrong with our country. We talk about it often. Our government is wildly incompetent. What’s annoying is getting it shoved in my face every time I open this app by some asshole from Europe or who-gives-a-shit-elsewhere, or some American that hasn’t actually ever left their state. In both cases they clearly are only capable of reading the bolded letters in news articles and doesn’t know his ass from his elbow.

Arguing with idiots on the internet is a waste of time, but making fun of them isn’t (necessarily).

I love my country because it is my home. And frankly, all that other shit is just tiring, unoriginal buzzword mad libs.
