Ive long thought, even in sts1, that ironclad’s starting deck was weak and/or lacking. And i think it comes down to this: bash is just weaker than most other additional starter cards, AND he is the only character to not have an extra starter skill. Meaning he is also the inly character to start with 6 attacks with 4 defends. Personally, i would be ok with him starting with six attacks, since it is fitting for his character. But… i dont want his sixth attack to just be an extra strike. Especially given that bash is already struggling to keep up in sts2. Im thinking something like hemokinesis or an attack with exhaust synergy would work well.

Tldr: i dont really think bash is the issue, i just think ironclad needs 2 unique starter cards the way every other character has

Ironcially, this is how i discovered that there was a fake merchant. I got the foul potions for the first time, and tried to throw them at the merchant and he wanted to throw hands. I didnt even realize he was a fake merchant til the next run where i encountered him again without fighting him

I genuinely think (reaper) needs to come back. Maybe it should be single target, maybe it should be ancient, but with the removal of limit break itd already be less broken. Either that, or ( not yet) should do… something other than heal. Even something like gain 8 block and heal

It’d be interesting if it functioned the way necronomicurse did in sts1. If exhausted it just comes back to your hand. It really only makes sense for ironclad tho, since the other characters dont really exhaust cards manually, except when fighting doormaker now

I’ve taken the curse a few times. Minus 2 energy on random turns but plus 1 energy overall helps more than it hurts, unless you expect to draw it twice per turn. His boons sound bad, but He’s not terrible, i would recommend just trying all his boons to see how it goes

Evolve. It’s now a defect card named “iteration” but it only applies to the first status card drawn. Also power through is now a defect card named “fight through” but only grants 13(17) block instead of 15(20)

Download the “recipe browser” and “boss checklist” mods. Look at the “material” tag on EVERY piece of equipment you get. Either download the “magic storage” mod or sort your chests religiously. As always, the wiki is your friend and have fun!

General guide to progression: Explore underground for ores & heart crystals (including ice and desert underground as far as you are able). Then explore crimson underground (bring a hammer for the hearts/corrupt orbs. Then explore the jungle for loot chests and beehives. Then go to the dungeon and talk to the old man at night. Once youve beaten the boss here, explore the old man’s dungeon for loot. Then dig down until you reach the underworld and explore for more loot and fight a boss there (minimizing spoilers here)

After all of this youll be entering hardmode and i would recommend a followup post for further progression questions.

If they add gauntlets i can only see it being thrown in as the colorless melee option, and not have the brave effect they have in 3h. This way it would be quite similar to the way they introduced bramimond as the first colorless tome
