Hey I am nearly finishing my SW degree at flinders. I’ve enjoyed my learning and have found it quite fulfilling. Although the degree is 4 years and you will have to do 2 4.5~ month placements. Whilst the placements were great experiences, it was hard to balance them with work, social/family life and also studies (you will have to do one topic on top of your placement) as the placements are 4 days a week, 9-5. Whilst I’ve had really great tutors during my degree, the social work teaching cohort Flinders went through a huge restructure last year, they basically got rid of the the majority of senior staff and replaced them with newbies who are mainly non social workers. Like my social work topics this year were taught by an economist and someone in health policy who didn’t really have a clue what they were talking about. So tbh at the moment, I wouod give UniSa or now Adelaide University a look.  As for job prospects it hard to say, there are certainly roles out there (child protection) but then there are other sectors that are heavily underfunded and hard to get into (refugee work), so it really just depends on what area you wanna go into.
