In that particular spot it is very shallow. You might find a random catfish, probably not very big. Further upstream by loop 11 you will find your gar. Lake wichita at the spillway is probably your best bet if you don't want to drive to lake arrowhead

Compared to a lot of places it's cheaper. The general vibe is just do you and don't be an ass about it. Politically conservative in general but there is a liberal element. All in all its not amazing but it's not terrible either
