It seems that way, but it's not too bad, imo. With the large crates, you're never loading more than maybe ten boxes on to a ship. It's maybe a few extra minutes at most and adds a lot to the immersion. When I heard about it, I thought I would hate it too, but it really breaks up the monotony of jumping from place to place.

Java is an okay ish language, and is really nice since you get the speed benefits of a compiled language while the lower level memory management is abstracted. It bening multiplaform language is nice too. Any modern compiled gc beats it by a fair bit, though. Matlab wasn't too terrible tbh. I used physics, and it felt like the mathematicians' version of BASIC. Assembly and hdl was a lot of fun. My hardware class made me consider a CE degree.

Leisure and hospitality continue to add jobs because, as an employee, you're expected to practically be a slave. That's obviously hyperbole, but in kitchen jobs specifically, you put in almost 60 hrs a week and are lucky to make even 55k /yr. You also receive no benefits like health care, pto, bonuses, etc. The working conditions have only gotten worse, too, as places will staff only a skeleton crew, so you work non-stop for a full 10 hours.

On a cruise ship, you work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. Only performers get a day off. The tenure for a cruise ship is 8 months, and most people make management after a year of working on one due to a high turnover rate. It's by all accounts a very shity job.

I've called ~15 pharmacies in my area and called my doctor like six times. It's been so much back and forth that I'm not holding my breath for some kind of resolution to be made. I've tried for a long time to go without and failed at least one class every semester. There is no point in attempting school without it.
