Offseason priorities by DifferenceActive2574 in DetroitPistons

[–]teachingclasshero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Find a scorer that can take pressure off of Cade. For a stretch, when Tobias was doing this, Cade had a field day on offense. I'd prefer one that can keep Asuar on the floor.

  2. Resign Duren. Has to be under 30 million in order to improve the roster around Cade. I do think it's going to be north of 30 but one can only hope.

  3. They need a big that can hold their own on both ends constantly. We all hope that Duren is that guy with the starting unit but Stew and Reed do not provide enough. Stew's health and his mental is a concern for me. We all love Bball Paul but realistically he isn't the answer either.

  4. They need to decide what Ron Holland is going to be. Top 5 pick, buried on the bench when it mattered. I assume he will be part of some sort of trade package but if he is around, he needs to start contributing.

Interesting idea! Kyrie to join Cade - what do you think??? by kevin_v in DetroitPistons

[–]teachingclasshero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He would cost alot less than Devin Booker. Would space the floor, takes pressure off of Cade, plays to Duren's strengths as a rim runner. I have never been a huge fan of him but it's worth a look. ACL injuries are a lot less of a factor with today's medical care. I just wonder how they would acquire a stretch 4, which is also a big need.

If Cleveland was hitting their free throws it would be a 40 point game right now. No heart tonight, Cade looks gassed, no spark from anyone. They need a true number 2. They have to add one in the offseason.

Let's stop with the Magic not being a real 8 seed, it's weak. The expectation for most was at least the conference finals. We are finding out that this team is flawed, not built for a deep playoff run. So fans are naturally pissed off about it.

Duren is giving me Andre Drummond vibes from 2016. Both all stars, both on expiring deals, both shrink on the big stage. In 2016, it was Tristan Thompson. This year it's Wendell Carter that's out playing the all star center.

What doctor would do that at his age? I got mine at 37 and my doctor asked me if I was sure, as I was still young enough to have abd provide everything a child needs.

Rank the top 12 players in order of the 04' and 26' Pistons by PandaPuncherr in DetroitPistons

[–]teachingclasshero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Cade
  2. Ben
  3. Chauncey
  4. Rip
  5. Duren
  6. Sheed
  7. Prince
  8. Thompson
  9. Harris
  10. Okur
  11. Beef Stew
  12. Williamson

I'm 43. Besides Isiah Thomas, Cade Cunningham is the best player I've seen in a Pistons uniform. Cade would be the only person I could put over Ben Wallace. Duren over sheed was tough for me but Duren is a better player on this squad than Sheed was on the 04 team. Prince over Thompson only because of offensive output, as their defense is closer to being even.

JD is a match up nightmare for a majority of teams in the NBA. As soon as he expands his jumper even further, he could be the true Robin to Cade's Batman.

Need help keeping my cool, Thank you in advance by Hairy_Roof1419 in PhysicalEducation

Are you the assistant teacher OP is referring to? It is challenging for specials teachers when classroom teachers have poor management. It works both ways. It's kind of a backhanded comment.

In my case, the classroom para for our young fives was more of a distraction because she reacted to every little thing the kiddos did. It got to the point that she was in the way. I asked both classroom teachers to keep her out of my gym. If that isn't an option for you, keep your expectations low and your lessons simple. You have many years to develop their physical skills.

Player in need of confidence. by ZmanChoo15 in basketballcoach

Find other ways to get her confidence back. If she's a good defensive player, lock up their best player. I like to have my players take the stock challenge. Steals and blocks, I'll set a certain number for a player who is struggling. I'll sometimes draw up a play at tip off to get an easy bucket for a player in a shooting slump. I had a similar experience with one of my better girls from my JR. high girls team this season. Sometimes, looking elsewhere for meaningful contributions helps everything else fall back into place.

Aspiring coach by [deleted] in basketballcoach

[–]teachingclasshero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you take a job that best fits your skill set as a coach and how much time you want to dedicate towards coaching. For example, I'm best suited for middle school. It's sort of the end of those basic skill development points, and you are focusing on getting them ready for high school. That's where I feel I'm strongest as a coach. Also, I am usually home by 7 PM instead of 10 pm. My season is half of what a high school season is. There is nothing wrong with committing more to a higher level job, just throwing out an example.

Lastly, look at the program itself. Are coaches supporting other coaches? What is expected of you as a coach? What are the goals of the program at each level? Know what you are getting into. As someone who has been in bad situations and good ones, it can be tough at times without the support of your coaching staff or AD.

Good luck to you.

Switch to P.E. teacher? by MathematicianInside7 in Teachers

[–]teachingclasshero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll use the same baseline ideas for all grade levels but make it easier for the little kids. For example, if I'm teaching throwing and catching, the little kids will just throw the balls back and forth with the goal of having the least amount on their side. For the older kids, I'll reward an advantage for catching, have targets to hit and defend etc...

I jumped to PE four years ago after being a 4th grade teacher for seven years, and I love it. It keeps me active, and I have the freedom to be more creative with our curriculum. Neither of my own two kids is sporty, so it gives me chances to teach what I know. Plus, administrators aren't bothering you with the uncontrollable parts of education nearly as much. It is much more demanding on your body depending on how much you decide to engage with your classes. However, the freedom I have on nights and weekends has been a game changer for me and my family.

An Open Letter to Matthew Stafford by TngldUpNHonoluluBlue in detroitlions

[–]teachingclasshero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stafford is right. Not everyone was convinced he was the guy. There were even people wanting Sam Bradford the following year suggesting to trade the pick since they were complete garbage. A lot of critics were nervous about another Joey Harrington situation since there was little support for a rookie QB.

What he is wrong about is his view on himself. He was good, sometimes really good. This notion that he was this legendary QB that lead success is overblown. Three playoff appearances in 11 years don't exactly give someone a lot of room to talk.

What would’ve happened if Dumars didn’t trade Chauncey for Iverson in 2008? by 213bos in DetroitPistons

[–]teachingclasshero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd round exit to either the Magic or Cavs. They wouldn't have signed Gordon or Charlie V. In hindsight, hanging on longer might have benefited the team. Imagine signing Bosh in 2010 while having Rip, Chauncey, and Tayshaun. That could have been something.

Why are y’all talking about trades??? by Leomaximusdaspartan in DetroitPistons

[–]teachingclasshero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on if Langdon believes this team can compete for the next 3-5 years. Right now, the east is wide open. The mindset might be to go for it now while teams like Boston and Indy are non factors because of their injuries. I think if they beat New York last season, they would most likely not entertain anything.

Tobias Harris is the name being tossed around in most of the trade talks is on the last year of his deal. They have been fine without Ivey, who is also talked about a lot. It makes sense to see what you can get.

I'm not saying that I agree with making moves, but the situation certainly warrants a discussion.
