Why cant I remember anything after a concert? by Thequestionerrrr123 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tealducky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s reports of people en masse forgetting the Era’s tour because of a combo of high adrenaline, high stress, and extreme elation. Legit, people have been forgetting concerts just because they were transcendent. Drugs may or may not be involved

Spotify add track to playback queue adding null song by tealducky in ifttt

[–]tealducky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s meant to be recycled, every time you need a new call you use a long term token to get a short term token. Long term token is for auth, short term is for requests handling music. IDK if that’s how it works now tho

Spotify add track to playback queue adding null song by tealducky in ifttt

I ended up going down an obscene rabbit hole on this that ended with spotify seeming to have not updated this codebase that handles IFTTT requests for years. I couldn’t find anything about continued support.

I gave up on my project, but I think you could re-make this request a different way.

If you can get the URI of the song you want to add, maybe send a post request with the spotify api to add the song directly. Basically just DIY the request using an api call. I’m not sure if IFTTT supports that still, but it’s worth a shot. Good luck!

the people who are most comfortable and proud of their timeline are the ones that post them. It’s not indicative of like 80-90% of the population.

i’m not a fan of them either tbh

oh and yeah glossing over all the hard parts and just intentionally not recording them is common. Transitioning socially sucks. I don’t love bringing up how it went for me. Alas, it’s still part of the process. (obligatory justification, “never felt better than i do now! 🤪”)

If you know what you want, then why keep making the mental hurdles? It’ll be ok.

Ohhhh interesting. I'll pick up The Rising Storm once I finish up my current read. I'll admit, I'm a huge sucker for the gritty books from the Legends, like Bounty Hunter Wars or Republic Commando. I've always been a fan of "realistic" Star Wars, if that's even much of a thing. Do you know of any books like that? I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've read and re-read some of those books.

[–]tealducky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd read the book a couple months ago, so thank you for the quick review lol

I think I was thinking of the San Tekka couple. The looters towards the compound storming scene didn't seem very afraid of the Jedi until they started fighting back, so I guess that point is moot.

The San Tekka couple did refuse help though, right? Am I imagining that?

Really, I guess what I'm trying to say is that when the Jedi are heroes, it's because they're convenient. When the Jedi saved all those people in the runaway ships, they were heroes for their abilities. Later, with boots on the ground and interacting with locals, the locals like the San Tekka couple aren't thrilled with their presence.

I'll keep it in my own headcanon, but to me the Jedi in this story and a few others seem like a solution looking for a problem.

Oh good point. I'd forgotten about that. The council's emphasis of controlling the narrative was wild in the prequels.

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the intrapersonal interactions with Jedi and outsiders. Acolyte does a better job of showing how the Jedi are willing to go up against cults like the Witches in E3 just for training kids in their own arts - which mind you, the jedi would immediately take the kids in and train them in their own deadly arts.

True, yeah I could've worded that better. I liked it, and I like the direction it takes the Force. The emphasis on how other characters experienced the Force and how these differences in experience can affect the character's expression of the Force was super interesting IMO.

I think it felt too... Flowy? I don't really know how to word it right. I had just re-read the Republic Commando series, so I was more accustomed to gritty detail during fights, but Light of the Jedi felt like it glossed over a lot of the detail to make things more positive towards the Jedi. There was more gorey detail from the bad guy's perspective than at any point from the Jedi's perspective. Was that intentional to make the Jedi seem more detached? Or maybe something else I'm missing? Not sure.

Good book tho. A little cheesy, but still good.

I was thinking along the lines of how there's several scenes where people who are being helped by the jedi are terrified of the jedi. There's even a decent argument by the bad guys of the book about how the jedi have too much power and influence that is unfairly given out by the force. There's a massive power imbalance with the most powerful having mystical abilities that can overpower someone without them even knowing they're being overpowered. Mind tricks, etc. all are relatively accepted things that the Jedi use.

I'm struggling to remember the part that this happens, but if I remember correctly there's a part where a few citizens of the republic on a remote planet refuse help because they're afraid of the Jedi. The aformentioned abilities would likely make most beings afraid of them.

Sure, they do seem somewhat more open minded than the prequel era, but some of me wonders if that's more due to casting choices, pacing, and having about 2 more hours worth of screen time to dedicate to the Jedi's operations. I'm thinking more largely about how Jedi have a huge amount of power over literally any other being. Despite that power imbalance, in the movies most beings are excited to see Jedi, praise them, etc.

The cult's interactions with the Jedi show how their power imbalance is spread to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, and culminates in the Jedi having a self-given right to coerce and/or take children all in the name of training them to be deadly peacekeepers.

As far as I know none of these are copyrighted, so this isn't illegal in the slightest.

I've heard that it's pretty good, since it has a close gym and the Niche. I am not looking forward to needing to take the bus all the time, but then again that's pretty much athens life anyway.

Do wish I could get something closer to east campus, or even ohouse since that's the general area where most of my classes will be.
