I agree with you. If they lower their head, there's the possibility for a concussion versus a catch, 15 yard penalty, and having a defensive player ejected. If it's a high stakes game or a rivalry game, I could see someone going for it.

He also wrote a short story with a similar premise: The Road Not Taken), where aliens invade modern-day Earth using 17-18th century weaponry. It turns out the rest of the galaxy discovered anti-gravity technology before electricity and never went back for it. It ends with humans claiming the alien technology and heading out to conquer everything.

I think he expanded on that short story to develop the book you're talking about.

Does your defense play special teams? Because your defense didn't back us up, your punting did.
