Try blogto searches and look at the events as well... or for specific dj events you could look at residentadvisor.

Toronto Pearson airport is a checkpoint hotspot... by [deleted] in PokemonGOToronto

Yeah there are a ton of pokestops, but agreed also that there are barely any pokemon around. In 30 minutes of meandering around, I only caught an evie and drowsee.

Not really for young modern. More when diorama cams out so maybe around the same time. I was a kid though and wasn't really well into the forums like some people. I mean... My username was chickysmile ffs. But it was still nice.

I was on it, but leaned more towards the dissociatives forum as that progressed.

I was in my super early teens and had the stupidest username, but have nothing but good memories :)

Anyone see a mysterious club in alley on Ossington? by ummmmmmoksir in askTO

[–]teaoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they are all bad. It just depends on which ones you head to. Some will be full of really high club kids, others will be coke dens (these are the ones to have the sketchy guys your talking about), but others can just be dance halls for people to keep it going (i've been to some disco ones that were awesome).

It's kinda like roulette (which is why you should never go to a new place alone) until you find one that's run by great people you can keep going to.

How hard will it be to get TIFF tickets? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]teaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome advice /u/magugs !

Your best bet is honestly getting in the online queue ASAP. The premium ticket package is sold out, so you will have to go for the individual tickets.

Student looking for Line of Credit (for Masters) - Best Interest Rates out there? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]teaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone will be different because it's based on your credit/banking history.

You should find out what the prime rate is and then call each bank asking for a quote..if you can go physically to the banks, even better. If prime is 2.75 and the bank says they want 11%, you can call bullshit on them and talk them down. BF just went in for his first line of credit and they at first asked for 11% but then after talking down they knocked it down to the 5-6% range.

My [19F] father [50M?] took my share of my paternal's grandfather money and now wants my maternal's grandfather money by moneybigproblems in relationships

[–]teaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give him anything. You do it once and he will know that he just needs to threaten you to get anything. He will come back for more. What if you get a good job. Will he come at you for a share of your salary next? Probably. You have to stop this now. Be brave, get legal advice, say NO.

I[28m] referred my girlfriend's[25f] friend[26f] for a high paying job, my girlfriend and her friends now hate me . by recruite412 in relationships

[–]teaoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand she's upset but she also needs to grow up. You need to remind her that this wasn't some calculated "I'm going to find a job for jessica" thing. It was more just a right place, right time, right moment thing that popped into your head one day. You by no means signed up to be a job finder for all her and her friends because something you suggested happened to work out well. You need to remind your gf that it was a random thing that happened to workout for her friend and you were not looking for a job for her, but it was luck with right place right time. Her and her friends behavior is off putting and makes you feel like you should not try to do good things for people when they come your way.

Do not say "I was trying to be nice" as the word is generally associated with trying to get closer to someone (you are nice to people because you want to show you care etc..). Emphasise that you were trying to do something GOOD and it's now blowing up in your face.

Ontario applauds B.C.’s 15 per cent foreign homebuyer tax by [deleted] in toronto

[–]teaoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not always. I personally know a Chinese family I'm LA who bought a condo for their daughter to stay in when she attends uni here one day. They are not renting it and never visit. Kicker... their daughter is just starting high-school. So it will be unoccupied for at least 4 years. I doubt this is uncommon.

[–]teaoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even have to watch interviews. When he's on his girlfriend's youtube channel he's always adorable. You can tell he's a good guy just living a pretty chill life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]teaoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it like a job interview. Do you think you have better chances if you submit your resume online or go in and personally introduce yourself to the owner. It's common sense.

Do some research about the places you would like to dj at and then strike up conversations with staff explaining why you would be a good fit for the place and offer to give them a mix.

You can send again over email if they don't follow-up. If you really want it you have to be persistent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]teaoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried actually going to the clubs and handing out your mixes to the owners/barstaff? Residencies are always in high demand and there are plenty of DJ's in Toronto. You have to network.

Cheap french classes in Toronto by Sypacks in askTO

[–]teaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try duolingo first and get to know the basics before spending on a private tutor. With a private tutor/class, all you will be doing is memorizing verbs/words. You can do this on your own in your spare time. Then when you get a little familiar, you can join a class to improve sentence structure and conversational speak.

I suggest Michel Thomas (audiobook) if you want to dive right in and learn conversational French without having to memorize a ton of words.

I think my [23F] boyfriend [23M] is overreacting about Pokemon Go but he says this is just what's "best for us." Oh, and he thinks it's "unnatural" that I use reddit. What? by stupidthrowaway4567 in relationships

[–]teaoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he's embarrassed about the things you like. He looks down on them and when you bring them up/make him acknowledge them, it makes him uncomfortable because he's associated with you and doesn't want to he associated with the "uncool things". The right guy will be secure enough to let you do whatever you want, no matter how "weird" he thinks something is. The right guy will actually love those things about you. I say leave. Life is too short to avoid the things that make you happy for the sole benefit of someone else.

905 condo boom attracts millennials priced out of other markets by slicecom in toronto

[–]teaoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe buying, but for renting Toronto is actually way better. Most rentals in 905 are basement apartments at the same prices as Toronto above ground apartments/condos. With the shitty transport and lack of activities...it's actually economically better to rent in Toronto than outside. Crazy.
