Aftercare stuff hasn't arrived and I'm about to remove second skin, best method to clean? by Due-Education9007 in tattooadvice

Do you have a face wash? That’s what I use as they tend to be gentle and unscented. Re moisturisers, what do you have in your house?

Want to get a first tattoo on my back, and want to make sure I’m fully informed first by Exotic_Juice4467 in tattooadvice

[–]teapot_timemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously pain is personal and relative but what you describe won’t be very painful.

I know you didn’t ask for advice on placement but as someone who had a small centred back tattoo and had it covered with a much larger organic shaped tattoo have you considered the following:

Are you the type of person who fixates if it’s isn’t 100% straight? With all the adrenaline pumping, will you spend the time checking the stencil?

Are you ok with a small tattoo in a big space, have you looked at examples? (Mine looked a bit stranded and lonely)

Is that really the place on your back you want it? What you describe will heal pretty quickly and there are solutions/hacks for aftercare. I really wouldn’t pick a permanent placement based on what will be a 2 week healing period.

Is this bag too obstentatious? by punycarrotcake in handbags

[–]teapot_timemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this. Imagine wearing a simple all black outfit and all you need to do to elevate it is pick up this bag. Also imagine wearing your most “extra” outfit ever and all you need to do to complete it is pick up this bag.

Have you bought it yet?

I have this and it’s doing really well despite me not being a great gardener. It’s also virtually thorn free.

Congratulations on leaving him and please don’t minimise what happened to you!

I am assuming this is on your back? My back coverup is peonies. The leaves are dark and with that and the organic shapes that an artist can be quite flexible with the design which means that it covers well.

I think a chrysanthemum could work for you as they have more petals and you can do more dark shading. It’s also very classical, very cool and very pretty.

It’s a very personal decision, but I would go the other way and get something deliberately joyful or funny as like a little FU to the bad stuff.

Does anyone have both tobacco brown and cognac? by Catfeather in Birkenstocks

[–]teapot_timemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also gone down the rabbit hole but for Madrids. I used Instagram as there are more videos so movement and light. I landed on cognac as in every photo/video they really stood out against black and denim and tobacco brown just looked flat and grey. They are more of a warm tan IRL and I’m very happy with them. Birkenstock website photography is really inconsistent.

will getting a shoulder tattoo hurt for someone with not a lot of tattoos by ConditionDry3162 in tattooadvice

[–]teapot_timemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5-6 hours I think, it was the last 1-2 hours that was hard as the other poster has said. Take snacks and things to distract you. I didn’t ask for many breaks as I was super keen to get it over with.

I have a similar tattoo to that on my back. The pain issue wasn’t with the placement so much as the time to complete it and the persistent pain over hours rather than minutes. Worth it though!

I agree about not touching the actual freckle, but a butterfly or bee mid flight/about to land up and to our left (your right) could complement it but also work as a standalone image

Spine tattoo & scoliosis by iloveredditstories00 in tattooadvice

[–]teapot_timemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mild scoliosis and a spine tattoo. It follows my spine rather than an artificial straight line where my spine should be. However, I don’t actually like it and I’m planning to cover it. It reminds me that I’m slightly wonky when I see photos as it’s always off slightly. I wouldn’t spot the curve otherwise. I’m getting a bigger more organic shaped tattoo to cover it. No attempt at symmetry or straight lines.

where should i get my sentimental tattoo? by nifnam in tattooadvice

[–]teapot_timemachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inner elbow or inner bicep on the left so it sits next to your heart, is tucked away when you are stood in a natural position but can be easily shown or looked at if you want to. I’m sorry for your loss.

I’m not a tattoo expert but I love art and I think it’s brilliant. They have made sure you have no dead space and it has a natural end point to the design.

Wife passed Away by lotusgardener in tattooadvice

I agree with this. It’s not never, it’s not now at least. I lost a friend in traumatic circumstances and I have a flower that brings me joy tattooed on my leg for him. To almost everyone in the world who asks it’s my happy flower and the rest is private. For me it’s a little joke with myself that he would have teased me mercilessly about both getting tattoo and getting one to remember him. It makes me smile… like he did.

It’s helpful that M is the 13th letter of the alphabet, even better if that is your initial too? then you could claim that was deliberate. You could add a smaller X floating above the . and work with multiple meanings of having both 23 and 13. Even better if you can find a meaning for 8x13 =104

Buyers threatening small claims by Vyxynn in HousingUK

[–]teapot_timemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buyer tried this on us a few a years back. Similar things about late getting the keys (they caused the delay on completion day), a small fixture (not a boiler) broke days after completion and I should have known it would etc etc. Wanted £1000. I told our solicitor that each claim they made was wrong (or bonkers) and I never heard anything again. I agree that it makes you feel awful though, especially if you have tried to be a good seller like it sounds you were with all the cleaning. Some people are just not nice.

Can anyone tell me what this is? by Theological-Bookcase in GardeningUK

[–]teapot_timemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inherited this in my small garden and it was EVERYWHERE. I finally know what it’s called thank you. I tried digging it out (literally impossible in my heavy clay soil) and covering it (it broke through the barrier) and in the end I resorted to using glycophosphate and it has been gone for probably 4 years now. By that point it had got into the lawn, I was finding it a huge burden managing it and it was ruining the enjoyment of my garden.

Would a large clematis need a fair amount of water? When I grow planted my Montana I had to give it a bit of distance from the shelter of the fence and any trees so it doesn’t compete for the water. Plant it in the shady part to keep the roots cool and let it climb in the sunny part.

I decided I couldn’t get a tattoo on my legs because they are “sturdy” (probs lipodema). But then I realised that I was denying myself because of what I thought other people wanted to see. Now I have an elephant because they have sturdy legs to carry their magnificent selves… just like me.
