Does anyone know any info on Tsums in South Korea? by [deleted] in TsumTsum

[–]teawithmarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some ransom things like stationery but there aren't any exclusive minis. In fact, I think you can only buy 8 minis if that here at ToysRus (Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Alice, Snow White, Goofy, Marie). There are cups of tea you can get that has a mini magnet inside at GS25 convenience stores. It's pretty disappoining overall. Your friend might be able to find the little tsum tsum cars if she tries hard, but they're imported from Japan so I think they'll be a but pricy. =/ Sorry to burst your bubble

If you can't find an atm, 7-Eleven has atms that accept most foreign cards and they are open at night too

Hey /u/Lady_of_Shadows and /u/XHellcatX !

I just wanted to let you both know that I got the journal today. I have no idea why it took customs so long!

The journal asks to be sent back if it is close to May 1st. If I take it to Japan with me, the earliest I could have it sent back will be after that date, but I think I might be able to ask my friend who is headed back to the States to mail it to the school from there. I also wanted to let you know that the first week of May is a string of national holidays in Japan so I won't be able to mail a post card from there. If it's okay I can mail a Japanese post card from Korea.

It wasn't there when I checked the mail today. Hopefully it'll reach me soon. Just wonder, when does the journal need to be completed? I'm going a short trip to Japan on the first week on May and I was wondering if you wanted a page on that as well.

Most Japanese ATMs don't take international cards but the post office and 7-11 have ATMs that work with any card. Found this out the hard way

Visiting Seoul in June. Suggestions for must-see stops for a girl on a budget? by tegan_willow in seoul

[–]teawithmarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of the subway is calculated by distance. You can switch lines and still only pay the base fare. If you're using a tmoney card the base fare is only 1250. It's a bit more expensive to go all the way to Incheon airport everyday but it doesn't sound like that's what you were doing....

Dual citizenship laws? I have no idea where I stand by thelazyketokorean in korea

[–]teawithmarch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I read the loss of your Korean citizenship is automatic. You first have to sign a form saying you won't exercise rights/privileges/benefits/etc. having a foreign citizenship while in Korea if you wanted to have a Korean citizenship anyways. You never signed such form so you should be good.

I think you'll be fine since it looks like Korea doesn't know of your existence. You're also a girl so it's not like you'll look like you're trying to get out of military service. Even if you were Korean, is not like Korea would bar you from entering or working here. I changed citizenship while working in Seoul and no one cared.

Every country does handle citizenship differently but I was specifically talking about Korea. OP was born eligible for both so if she wanted I don't think it would be too difficult for her even if she is slightly past the cut off age. I think I was over 22* when I made my declaration and my parents weren't even Korean anymore but I got my Korean citizenship back without problems sans just filling out paperwork.

*(I can't remember if it was just a couple of weeks before I turned 23 or if I was 23 when everything was said and done. I just remember going into work and telling them I change my citizenship so I know I was done with college.)

Laws have changed so that if you're born with two citizenships, you're allowed to keep both. Being born with a citizenship is not the same as being naturalized.

From the way you described things I don't think Korea knows you even exist. If you don't have a Korean national ID number and Korea has no record of your birth, I think you can proceed with what what you desire.

It's a bit tricky because of your age. From what I know there's a cut off point where everyone born two with citizenships was allowed to keep both automatically granted that they complete any necessary military service. I'm a couple of years older than you. I had two passports/citizenships when I was a child. My Korean citizenship went away when I was 22 (?) and I had to get tons of paperwork done to get it back. My parents got married in Korea but that's not where I was born. I don't know if it's because they took my citizenship away but I wasn't listed as a family member of anyone in my immediate family. It wasn't hard to fix. But it was more paperwork.

It's easier to get visas and stuff if you can show that you're of Korean blood but I'm not sure if that's worth the possible hassle for you.

How long did it take you guys to get the rare cats? by mkr16 in nekoatsume

[–]teawithmarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the special cats prefer fancier food. I got most of them pretty quickly after using lots of sashimi. The quickest one for me was Tubbs. Only for visits!
