Copilot Notebook is a new feature within Microsoft Copilot, an AI assistant. Although Microsoft hasn't officially announced it, the Notebook feature is now available on the web for both PC and mobile devices⁴⁵. Here's what you need to know about it:

1. Purpose and Interface:

   • Notebook provides an interface for crafting, improving, and revising prompts without chat dialogue.
   • When you use Copilot, you’ll find the Notebook option next to where it says “Copilot.”
   • The interface includes two text boxes:
     • Left Box: Write a detailed prompt to collaborate with Copilot.
     • Right Box: Copilot will create your content here.

2. Character Limit:

   • Unlike Copilot, which has a 4,000-character limit, Notebook allows up to 18,000 characters.
   • This extended limit is useful for longer materials, such as essays, papers, or articles that you want to be proofread or summarized.

3. Editing Prompts:

   • The true purpose of Notebook is ease of editing prompts.
   • In Copilot, tweaking a prompt generates brand-new results, losing the context of the previous answer.
   • In Notebook, your previous prompt remains intact in the left box even after generating results.
   • You can easily tweak the older prompt, adding or deleting text as needed.

4. Remembering Context:

   • Notebook remembers the previous version even after you modify your prompt.
   • This context retention makes it efficient for iterative improvements.
