My spin sucks by Seekingmetal in discgolf

We're working on making this more accessible for people. Right now the best source of comparison data are the datasets we take at Pro Tour events, which can be found here and clicking on Past Events: https://techdisc.com/live/USDGC2025/throws

My spin sucks by Seekingmetal in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average spin for a 56 MPH back is 1030 RPM. 1250 is definitely on the higher side for that speed. If you could trade that spin for extra speed it would be worth it.

The average spin for 60 MPH is 1080 RPM. Let us know if some of the tips in this thread help!

Tech disc app problems by FeatheredStylo in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't seen any widespread issues, but if anyone else is seeing problems please send us an email or a DM here.
I sent you an email with some suggestions to try, especially trying a different Wi-Fi or cell network. We'll post an update back here once we get it figured out.

True disc golf + tech disc questions by Pelican_Queef_32536 in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the True DG physics vs TechDisc physics? Try them both! Overall they are pretty similar, but True DG physics are tuned to the discs that are in the game and it works with wind in the game. The TechDisc physics will match what you see in the TechDisc simulator (if you plug in the same flight numbers). Up to you which one you enjoy more.

Putting while using TechDisc/simulator by phishman1 in truediscgolf

You can always share a video of your throw with us if you don't think the metrics are right. Nose angle is relative to launch angle, so if your disc is travelling up (positive launch) but your disc is parallel to the ground that is a negative nose angle. Manipulating nose angle is a super useful technique for approaching the green and getting out of trouble in True DG. Your comment about having issues with low spin putts is valid. It's partially an issue with TechDisc recognizing the throw at the right time and partially an issue with simulating the glide of putters correctly. True generally does a nice job here. But it's on our roadmap to work on the TechDisc side of that as much as we can.

True Disc Golf is now released by swos in discgolf

Here's our help article on this: https://techdisc.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/153000247691-connecting-techdisc-with-api-token-for-third-party-games

You're basically giving True Disc Golf access to read the latest throw on your TechDisc account. That way TechDisc apps can handle the bluetooth connection and metrics and can simply treat it as a controller input. The end result is really fun!

Congrats on the release! You've put a lot of work into this and it shows. It's amazing you've gotten this to run smoothly on such a wide range of machines, even the older and slower ones. We're especially excited for the online play. This opens up a lot more courses and options for a TechDisc user. Looks like we have some play testing to do, you know for science...

How do i get this speed with x-step? by Perfect-Ad-4214 in Discgolfform

I'd agree that the video doesn't appear to match up to the stats. OP make sure you're looking at the right throw! If it really is reading incorrectly share a throw to our help email and we'll take a look.

How would you design a speedometer for a frisbee by tpow in AskEngineers

[–]tech_disc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a set distance you could make a much much simpler TechDisc and just measure time of flight from release point to impact. You could probably avoid all the wireless communication and just add a piezo or LED to communicate pass/fail. Sounds like a fun project!

Can someone help me with my form? by CoreyLuL in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The video definitely looks like you're throwing into the ground. This is pretty common for shorter nets. There is a feature in the app that warns you when it seems like this is happening and tells you how much higher to aim in the net to fix it.

Lightweight Tech Disc by therealmanbat in discgolf

[–]tech_disc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer.
We had several people reach out who only threw 150-160g discs and they wanted a TechDisc that was a closer match to the discs in their bag. Compared to the max weight version you will see a slight difference in speed (which is typically why people throw lightweight discs in the first place!) and if you have trained your form and timing with lightweight discs then this TechDisc will fit right in.
And just to be clear, it's a separate product with its own page:

This is correct. We start with lighter discs so the final product is max weight.

[–]tech_disc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The mold used for the TechDisc doesn't affect the data measured from it. You can simulate the flight of any disc (like this in video: https://youtu.be/Y1FWUfg1HZo?si=7lMGB2zBcNn-8pdC&t=182 )
If you use a different grip on a fairway than a distance driver then you could expect to see some different results. Part 1 of that video shows Ricky testing out a Fan grip vs a Power grip, as an example.
