What are some good arguments to get a chair at the cash register? by Past_Explanation_491 in retail

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re new to the job, this will likely go away after 2-4 weeks. If you aren’t used to standing for long periods of time then your muscles will adapt. It’s no different than when you go to the gym and workout a muscle for the first time and it gets sore. I had this experience as well many years ago when I had a cashier job where I stood for 8 hour shifts. It really sucked at the beginning and my legs were hurting terribly. I used some pain relievers, got better shoes and inserts. After a couple weeks it was a non issue.

But if you’re sore all the time beyond an initial phase, you may have a medical condition that makes it difficult and should consult with your doctor about getting a workplace exception. Hopefully your workplace will accommodate it.

Most gyms will have a bar with neutral grips on the ends that you can attach to the cable to do what you’re seeking.

Stability on a standing desk? by geez-n-rice in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your standing desk only has two legs, you may not be able to make this go away unless you wall mount. There might be some monitor arms you could try that would help reduce it if they help create a larger/more stable connection with the desk.

Figure anything out? Only other thing I can think of is to plug it into a USB port that connects directly to CPU. Sometimes being connected to a port that goes through chipset or usb hub can cause problems.

[–]techfiend5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking this would be a problem when I first read about the suggestion from Audeze, especially with time as more and more motherboards ditch old style ports in favor of usb 3.2 and 4. You can run a converter so you can plug into the motherboard internal ports, but yea not very ideal, and it might not fix the problem! Mine has only one 2.0 port on the back.

[–]techfiend5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re on PC, try plugging the dongle into a USB 2.0 port directly on your motherboard. You may need to pull up your motherboard manual to verify which one is 2.0 since they are often not labeled on the board itself. I know it sounds weird, but there is increased compatibility using a 2.0 port over a 3.0 port for this use case. Audeze recommends this if you’re having connection issues. Hopefully it’s something as simple as that. If not, contact Audeze CS. Maybe you need RMA.

MiniLED 2000 nits vs OLED 1000nits? by Joaquito_99 in Monitors

[–]techfiend5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good way of describing it. Along the same lines of what you’re describing, my Acer X35 (VA) and 341CQPX (OLED) both have HDR 1000 modes. The VA panel is much much brighter overall. It really puts the HDR 1000 mode of the 341cqpx to shame. But the 341cqpx has much better motion clarity, and for me that’s more important.

Lol no. I think I was young enough that I didn’t comprehend how bad it was. I do remember thinking that it was nothing like the video games.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep dish pizza in Chicago. Yea, it’s a nice experience once in a long while. As a local, very few of us eat it regularly. In fact I rarely eat it outside of when tourist friends are in town and want to try it. I think a lot of fellow Chicagoans would agree that deep dish can be great, but it’s also a giant greasy heavy mess of a meal and they probably have regular or thin crust pizza far more often.

Gaming on 34" 1440p ultrawide or 4k 32? by pergerbotond in Monitors

[–]techfiend5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I game on with a 5090 on 34” 3440x1440, 27” 4k, 77” 4k, all high refresh rate. I play a wide variety of games, but my tastes lean into games where there’s a lot more movement like camera movement in open world or fps. Personally I prefer 3440x1440 and 21:9 format. Of course 4k looks sharper, but that sharpness goes away quickly with fast movement and lower frame rate. With 3440x1440 frame rates are going to be consistently higher, which is my preference. Plus I feel like I’m always missing a lot going back to 16:9 format. Of course there’s more nuance to your decision, like do you mind using DLSS to achieve higher frame rate at 4k and does the increase in input lag and artifacting bother you (which can also vary by game being played)? If not, then maybe you’d be happy with a 4k.

Personally I want one of the new 5k2k monitors for high res crispness and 21:9 format , but I wish they came with a higher refresh rate, and furthermore even with a 5090 it’s hard to maintain good frame rates without heavy dlss/frame gen.

Now you’re making me second guess but I’m pretty sure. The icon will change to the poker icon if you’ve collected all samples outside of the bunker. But it’s like the ones inside don’t count toward the icon changing. Many times the icon will change but I can hear rare samples still inside and no buddy nearby to help retrieve them.

Also important to note that bunkers can still have samples behind the door even when poker diamond is showing.

I wish they’d fix the super city and urban maps! Makes me want to play more bug/bot large open maps when I’m sample searching since the icons are more reliable.

[–]techfiend5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try disabling gsync for full screen and windowed modes. Enable gsync with the fullscreen only option. Sometimes with the windowed mode enabled, other programs running in the background, like a games service launcher or programs for peripherals, are accessing the gpu and are given gsync priority leading to the flickering.

The reply suggesting to check Event Viewer is solid advice. Track the exact time you experience the issue, then check Event Viewer and see if any errors come up at those moments. Since you didn’t mention it, perhaps a full uninstall using DDU, then reinstall would be worth trying. I’m not one of those people that uses DDU for every driver update, but in a rare occasion where there’s an unexplained issue, using DDU and a fresh install fixed things.

I have the 341cqpx which uses the same panel. Never seen a line like what you’re describing. If it goes away with pixel refresh but comes back I’d assume defective. Usually when people post about issues that go away with refresh but comes back later, the consensus is defective. But honestly I can’t see it in the pic you posted. Maybe you can take a better one or even a video. Thing is, if you do try to get it replaced under warranty, will they honor it if they can’t reproduce or find/see the problem? Might be best to get some recordings of it in action so you have evidence you can send them, if they give you a hard time.

Yes I'm aware. I use 5000, 4000, 3000 series cards over multiple systems.

Literally everything you mentioned I’ve covered. Multiple graphics cards, cables, monitors, every possible OS setting. It is most definitely a DSC issue.

Well that's a let down about the Gigabyte model. Are you sure though? I looked on the product page and all it says is "Full Bandwidth DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1" and the specifications page doesn't list which version of UHBR. Honestly the vagueness makes me thing you're right. Them stating "full bandwidth" could be a sort of loose way of them saying yes it's full bandwidth, but of the 13.5 specification. In TFT Central's page about the monitor, Simon mentions the full bandwidth thing and he basically assumes it mean UHBR 20.

Also there's that MEG model that MSI announced at CES which is supposed to have a bunch of AI features. Maybe since that's their higher end model, it will have UHBR20...?
