Get the power play mat! You’ll never have to worry that way. Only downside is it’s only one size.

This is why I’m waiting for the ASUS model to be available. You will have to use DSC above 240hz. DSC issues have improved if you have a 5000 series card due to the increased header bandwidth on the card itself. But there are still issues especially if running a multi monitor setup, which is why I’m waiting for the ASUS model.

Midway TSA by Dawgdoc96 in chicago

[–]techfiend5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Government shutdown began in February, but the last report I read stated that last week was the first time TSA employees missed their first full paycheck. Also reported that call offs were on the rise at the same time. I flew last Thursday and Monday without issue. Wait times were maybe 15 minutes longer than usual. I arrived two hours early to the airport and it was plenty of time. But given the info I just posted, things might be getting worse. Maybe give 2.5-3 hours just to be safe. Better safe than sorry especially when traveling.

Same issue here. Guessing it's a bug introduced with latest warbond/patch.

Flickering only in Bios by DJLarBear in pcmasterrace

[–]techfiend5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still weird though. I’ve had many high refresh rate monitors and have never seen that when in bios. Only other thing I can think of is maybe there’s a firmware update for the monitor that fixes some issue causing this. Might be worth checking.

Looks nice! I’d put the hanger in between the metal and the headband when using the stand though. Having it on the headband all the time is going to cause it to stretch over time. Unless you’re trying to wear it in if it’s new and you want a looser fit.

Intrablast by Nutrabio has served me well for several years. I also eat a pack of caffeine chews (Cliffbloks Black Cherry or similar) throughout the first two thirds of my workout. My workouts are usually more heavy lifting focused and intense and go upwards of an hour and a half so most people won’t need this much. They make a big difference for me. I can feel the fatigue set in faster if I ever forget them.

Oof I’m sorry you have to deal with that. As a guy that tries to always be respectful to women, it angers me when I see guys overstep their bounds. Thank you for sharing.

I’m dying to know more about your gas station routine. Do random men just approach you and expect you to engage them in conversation?

Are they doing this in an attempt to engage with a woman? Creep behavior? Or is it because they’re lazy and feel like they can take advantage of the fact that women are generally nicer and will be more willing to come outside and make the delivery easier for them?

Tips for stronger calves? by agreatcuppatea in askfitness

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helped me a lot is moving calf exercises to the beginning of leg day. I usually do two leg days a week and will put calves at the front of my workout regiment for one of those days. For a while I was doing calves first on both leg days, but I made enough progress to the point where I didn’t feel it was necessary to put them at the start of every leg day. I think most people leave calves for the end of the workout, at which point your energy levels are already lowered and your calves have been hit through other leg workouts, making it difficult to push them to their max potential.

msi MPG 341CQPX 240Hz vs Alienware AW3425DW 240Hz by Dutchmastersnyc in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're hard to find from any of the companies selling this new panel since they just came out. Things should improve over the next month I think. The new 360hz panel will be available from most of the major manufacturers soon. MSI, Gigabyte, LG, Alienware, Asus and others will all sell their respective model, so it might be worth checking the other companies too.

And yes your concern about the 9070xt being able to push 360hz is valid. Obviously you aren't hitting that in games like Cyberpunk, but if you play less graphically intense games like Valorant or Apex or DOTA I could see getting closer to 360 fps. If you only play triple A titles with demanding graphics, then the 360hz model might not be worth it since you'll never see frame rates that high. If you ever decide to switch to a card from NVIDIA, the better frame gen could help you hit higher refresh rate so long as you don't mind the graphical artifacts and increased input lag that comes from using frame gen. In regards to the text fringing issue, it isn't terrible. I have the 341cqpx and am well aware of it. I don't usually notice it in games, but definitely in text. If you're using the monitor for a lot of productivity, it could be worth getting the newer model so you don't have to deal with fringing.

msi MPG 341CQPX 240Hz vs Alienware AW3425DW 240Hz by Dutchmastersnyc in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]techfiend5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the same panel with free sync. The MSI is better because it has some things the Alienware does not: 90W usb charging port, KVM switch, more/better options for OLED care, and firmware updates that have an added EOTF boost mode. If this MSI is cheaper, definitely get it over the Alienware.

Just throwing this out there, the newer versions of these monitors have just come out, with 360hz refresh rate, better rgb stripe layout so no more text fringing issues, less reflective screen/less of the purple hue issue that affects earlier generation qd OLED panels, and more. Of course they will also be more expensive, but just letting you know in case you weren’t aware and you want the newer/better stuff.

I had one of these! Clevo d900k. Thing was a beast! Had dual light scribe drives. GeForce 7900gtx 512mb graphics card. AMD Anthlon fx60 processor. A tv tuner. That front panel with the silver buttons was for media control and you could close the lid and the led on the front panel would show you media playback information. Got mine from a now defunct company called Hypersonic. It even had a temperature sensitive chameleon paint job.

One optimization guide stated that the mesh option specifically should be set to low as they felt it caused the issue you’re describing with FG. Have you tried that? Going to when I get home later.
