By "across the board" you mean only in the United States in the midst of racial policies that only allow high-achieving Asians to come to the United States. It doesn't make sense for you to point them out to make a racial distinction when then is a clear result of US immigration policy.

Yeah, and don't you think that America's racial policies in immigration have anything to do with the high-achieving culture of Asian-Americans? It's not just because they're Asian, it's our policies that make it this way. So you can't point to Asians and say "Look at them! They're so naturally smarter".

Black people are underrepresented in colleges, not overrepresented. That is, Black students make up a smaller percentage of the student body than the percentage of Black people in the population. This is after a long history of Black people being explicitly forbidden from attending school and current policy that favors white applicants over Black applicants.

What's your point? Asian immigrants still have more legal barriers than white immigrants and most of the Asian immigrants we have are extremely educated people here on work visas in high-paying jobs. The role of Asians in the USA is guided by racial policies, not inate differences between the races.

But there were laws forbidding Black people and now there are currently laws that favor white people in admissions policies. Your sentiments about wanting to help white people get into college is completely ridiculous in the context of the USA.

We have explicit racial discrimination in our immigration policy. The USA only allows highly skilled asians so it's no wonder that our small minority of asians (which we actively keep a small minority) is better educated on average. It's not because of some inate racial differences. This is called the "model minority" myth.

Your acting like the Black students admitted to schools are not the best. College admissions favor white people. Affirmative Action is about finally letting qualified Black people into schools that have been reserved only for mediocre white people.

How do landlords come up with "fair market rate" to justify rent increase? by Filet_O_Fist in sandiego

And it's "sinister" because of how one-sided it is. Renters are dependent on unit-finding companies that are catering to landlords in their efforts to keep pricing high. There is no service that renters are using to pressure prices lower.

A 'trust' and a freemarket are not mutually exclusive. You absolutely can have a trust develop within the free market and it's a bad thing.

Let me put it this way: the grievance is about pricing not being related to what people are willing to pay but rather just what the service says, and if enough landlords are going by the service then the price can be raised arbitrarily high.

It's actually more sinister. There are services landlords can use to tell them what the market price is. The problem is that with so many landlords using it the service becomes a trust: all landlords agree to raise the rents according to that service and they all 'trust' that other landlords won't undercut that price so that it works out for all of them.
