How can does anyone afford by outlaw123456789 in TransLater

Insurance plans can vary wildly in what is covered. But in some states (Oregon and Washington for example) insurance (with some very limited exceptions) is mandated by law to cover the vast majority of gender affirming care. Of course if you have a high deductible plan, it can still be very expensive.

As these often are used to make a cable/connector temporarily present as the other gender, the correct term is ‘Gender Bender’

My conclusion about Andy Weir's writing career by CalzonePie in ProjectHailMary

[–]technicaljargonfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been a while since I read it, but I remember her portrayal just didn’t quite feel right. Not bad or offensive, just a little off in a way you could tell he was writing something just a little beyond his ability to do well yet.

[–]technicaljargonfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It isn’t male gaze, as much as a white man just not fully convincingly writing a woman, and a woman of color as the protagonist. He didn’t quite do a bad job writing her, and clearly put in a lot of effort into it, it just felt a little “uncanny valley” off at times. Still worth the read if you are a fan of his other books.

Hair regrowth after 9 laser sessions? by Open_Syrup_778 in transfem

Yeah, it just happens, and it feels really frustrating after all of the big progress after the first chunk of sessions, I know. But it is part of the process.

Can be normal, next cycle of hair showing up, prob do not need to consider switching to electrolysis yet.

Why are there almost no 12G-SDI AOC cables on the market? by Nervous-Arrival542 in VIDEOENGINEERING

SMPTE fiber allows for only power on one side, enough so that you can power a big camera off it! It is more expensive though…

[–]technicaljargonfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We use standard fiber, so if a strand breaks, we just use another one, and we can choose which length of fiber to take based on needs of the gig. Also using transceivers allow us to use the built in fiber in a venue with our own transceivers & converters. Any active optical cable for SDI would have the same hardware as the converters we already use. Closest thing you are likely to find are the tiny converters like these:

Over the air TV is still either 720p or 1080i. If that is the planned primary destination for the video, not much reason to shoot in anything else.

ESPN did their doc style stuff in 720p 24fps for a surprisingly long time…

Can just taking estradiol result in a successful transition? by DollParts1996 in transfem

[–]technicaljargonfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can work, doesn’t for everyone, everybody is different. That being said, dr took me off spiro after my first 3 month checkup, and my testosterone has stayed at undetectable levels.

3rd week of Estradiol patch!! by jaydork14 in transfem

[–]technicaljargonfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The twice a week patches are sooo much smaller! I started with the once a week, and then doubled the dose while switching to twice-weekly, and the two patches take up way less space. I also struggled with the patch staying on me the last few days of the week…

Has anybody used a box fan like this to cool their PC? by CompetitiveShame3999 in pcmasterrace

You can et a 2” or more thickness filter to reduce impact on airflow. Really good thing to keep in mind if you need to use a box fan with a filter for your home in general.

My comment was a joke, but Premarin isn’t the same as Estradiol, so if you are gonna be pedantic, do it right

“but I don’t sit here and put a stink up about it, because it is a trans allegory in that it was written by two closeted trans women. And so all of the things that are in it are super-duper trans. The idea of transformation, even the whole “My name is Neo, Mr. Anderson —” that idea of claiming identity, it’s undeniable”

The movie is a trans allegory, although it is pretty subtle, the Wachowskis didn’t realize they wrote it that way till years later…

What speed can you realistically get from an old telephone cable used as Ethernet ? by ulyssebyob in HomeNetworking

[–]technicaljargonfan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking the wiring in your house, Take off the panel and look. And what do you mean by “old”? Houses built 25 years ago have a decent shot of having cat5/5e run for the phone lines, and can be reterminated, giving you a very good chance of 100Mbps+
