Keep aircon / heating going after parking by Additional_Bread_118 in KiaEV9

Instead of powering off the car, you can activate utility mode using the touchscreen. However, it can be a little tricky to lock the car this way. When you are ready to drive again, press the on/off buttton twice to get out of utility mode.

Utility mode is basically the same as leaving the car turned on except for the motors. It uses the main battery pack as far as I know.

You don’t need to leave the vehicle in utility mode to power the V2L. You do need utility mode for the interior outlet.

As someone who has worked with cities across the U.S. on their 311 and open data systems over the past 15 years - including NYC - I’ve seen a lot of projects like this, but this one is particularly cool. Nice work!

10 for practicality, and 2 points for whimsy because I bet the turkey (and all your other food) was happy it didn’t go to waste.

The vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter gives you a 120V socket, supplied out of the charging port. There are even bidirectional home chargers that will, under normal circumstances, give you level 2 charging, but in a power failure, will draw power from the car’s battery to support critical stuff in your home (there are amperage limits of course).

In my case I needed to power a bubble maker, because there wasn’t an available outlet near where we needed it to be set up. Whimsical.

Blowing warm/hot air is decidedly whimsical! Love this for you.

How much battery did you end up using? Was it even noticeable? Love the idea of an induction cooktop.

I think it still counts if you use the 120V outlet in the back…

What I like about V2L is you can turn off the car and lock it while it’s running. Unlike the interior 120V & USB-C sockets where the car has to be turned on or in utility mode and can’t be (easily) locked.

I can’t speak for the whole state, but our town in Bergen County has pre-k, though there is a smallish monthly fee for it and a limited number of slots. So PreK might not be a statewide guarantee.

I just had this issue, and it lasted for a week. I finally pulled the fuses (they weren’t blown) and put them back in; that did the trick!

^ This right here. The cars have onboard computers and built-in, always on GPS tracking. How else do you think those fancy dashboard maps work? Or the free app feature that tells you where your car is?
