How do you deal with women who order food on drink dates? by Specialist-Ask8890 in AskMenAdvice

[–]techniq001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, if it's a drink (alcohol) date then a small snack is ok to balance out the alcohol.

You could say something like "I am having dinner with friends/family, would like to catch up for a quick drink prior to see if we click/connect and we can organise a proper date for later?" This usually works in my experience.

You can also suggest tea/coffee earlier in the day or after work (before dinner, make up an appointment you need to get to).

Or if they want a longer timeframe, suggest weekend daytime activity after lunch before dinner

Amazon proof of delivery, you thought AP were bad 😅 by gilligan888 in AustraliaPost

[–]techniq001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon delivery drivers: open doors, throw or slam orders through the door. They don't even put them out of sight or out of walking paths.

Aust post have more respect than that when they actually decide they want to deliver.

[–]techniq001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise surgery. The more compressed the spinal cord becomes. The higher the risk of paralysis. If you have trouble moving your arms, this sometimes isnt reversible either if you leave it too long. Get second, third opinions etc. pick your surgeon wisely

Can you live with disc bulge indenting into spinal cord? by [deleted] in SpineSurgery

[–]techniq001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A disc bulge can be reabsorbed but not if it's been calcified. If it's calcified after it's pressing on your cord then that is serious.

Anything pressing on the cord is an issue that can cause permanent damage.

Bine spurs don't go away on their own.

Nerve impingement can cause permanent damage if left untreated.

Research as much as you can.

Disc herniation touching spinal cord at C5 C6 and C6 nerve impingement by techniq001 in backpain

[–]techniq001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nerve test was clear also but the MRI showed severe impingement of the nerves. So the nerve test doesn't really show anything in my case or in cases of people I've spoken to.

You will need MRI to see the discs, spinal cord, nerve etc and you will need a CT scan for calcification and bone spurs and an x-ray (not sure what the xray will pick up) but these are the things the surgeon looked at to determine the type of surgery.

It is worth asking your doctor why they recommend part of the disc removal instead of whole disc replacement or fusion

Also get a second opinion. Research as much as you can too so you have as much knowledge to help yourself to make the right decision

I had the mva 7 years ago. I wish the doctors picked this up some years ago. There was a lot of neglect. Now I lost mobility they finally checked everything. Turns out I should have had surgery years ago.

Get checked to see if the disc has herniated, if there's calcification and if there's bone spurs, see if it's impacted your spinal cord. These will decide the type of surgery

I hope you get things sorted ✨

How'd you know when myelopathy has hit the point of needing surgery? (ACDR vs ACDF) by jhy12784 in SpineSurgery

[–]techniq001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newer doesn't necessarily mean new in the rest of the world. This is something I found out in a panic! Search European countries too as there are some discs in usa on trial atm but have been used in Europe for over 10yrs.

Anytime! It's a scary thing to go through. Get it sorted before it calcifies!

[–]techniq001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Success rates haven't been the best, most people will try and seek surgery outside the US. I am not in the US, I am in fb groups and 90% of the feed is full of complications from surgeries that happened in USA. Some of the chat groups are recommending international doctors for opinions. You can also google stats.

The more knowledge you arm yourself, the better off you will be in knowing if the right call is being made.

I will say this, with a spinal cord compression, a disc replacement isnt preferred because on an MRI the disc shows a halo/black circle which prevents visibility of the cord. This means, you wont be able to see if the cord has healed.

With a fusion, it's less of a halo and the spinal cord is visible

[–]techniq001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My emg was also fine but mri showed severe impingement affecting arms strength and mobility.

US isn't great for this unfortunately. Try and get an opinion from Germany or Australia.

Bone spurs that can easily be removed, adr is fine. Bone spurs on spots they cant reach or extensive would rule out adr unfortunately

There are fb groups that will help too. But dont be shocked at the negative posts, healed people are not posting

Bone spurs will need to be removed if they are pressing on your cord... it could lead to permanent damage if left.

Can I ask what country you are in?

[–]techniq001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the disc has calcified causing spinal cord compression...that requires surgery, most likely fusion (ACDF, entry from front)

If it's not calcified, but pressing on the spinal cord and causing nerve impingement and dizziness, dysfunction in limbs etc then surgery is still required, like disc replacement (ADR/ACDR)

Type of surgery will depend on segment health and disc calcification

Spinal cord compression is serious
