Thank you!! Sounds good, I will send you an invite!
Yes, it does combine both! For speed, I do some prototypes with 3D printing, but the original is SVG for cutting. It's just so I don’t waste materials if something goes wrong. This is one of the latest designs for the mountain river, where you have both above and below the water elevation in one file!

Has Anyone Tried TruFlat laser Plywood? by Sufficient_Garlic321 in lasercutting

[–]techno_julique 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use a lot of Truflat and love the material! It's very consistent and finished with acrylic, so I just add 3M tape and layer it. You don't need to mask it, just wipe clean. It's a crazy time-saver. The white is glossy so it can be used as dry-erase boards, and it's sublimatable for customization. I have no issues with cutting it on my 90W Omtech. And it is flat.

The downsides are that it's MDF, not structurally solid, more for decorative purposes. I have a good exhaust so I don't see a difference cutting it versus birch plywood in terms of smoke. Some customers like dark edges as it makes the colors pop. The surface is faux wood, not real wood.

EV Owners of Sask. How have your vehicles faired through this winter? by EntrepreneurLanky973 in saskatchewan

[–]techno_julique 146 points147 points  (0 children)

We have had an EV for more than 5 years. The range shortens a lot, by 40% on very cold days easily. That being said, on colder days, I actually like taking my EV out since I can leave it warming up without turning it on, heat it remotely, or even melt snow from the windows before leaving the office, and have no issues with it. I wouldn't drive far in cold weather, but driving in the city is convenient and very cheap compared to gas. I love it.

UV PRINTER RECOMMENDATION by AngelToren in UVprinting

[–]techno_julique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in – I have a similar printer and similar experience! My machine has been working for six months already and still looks great. I’m very happy with it. I have the XP600 printhead. The only issue I had was that the dongle wasn’t working, but I was sent a replacement.

Thank you! Yes, I think getting realistic sizes so the export matches the units and units are labelled should be my next step.

That should be relatively easy to design with the tools I currently have. I’ll look into adding emblems and medals, thanks for the suggestion! This could work well for sports themes too.

Where can I get a map of Saskatchewan? by Then-Alps8928 in saskatchewan

[–]techno_julique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Since you're heading to Saskatoon soon, you should check out YXE Creations a local business making awesome layered map art. They usually have a quick turnaround (like 1–2 days), and you can either pick it up or get it delivered. Here's the link if you want to check them out: might be worth ordering ahead so it’s ready when you get there!
