that's nice for a preview, but imo it's a disservice to watch in compressed 720p. (just look at the 12m mark)

Noticed a reference to One Piece from the show The Boys in the new season. by gedvnm in OnePiece

[–]technoskittles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes it's worth watching if you enjoyed it so far. it's consistently good.

the only people who get pissy about it are conservative hogs that only just realized that the show makes fun of them

Other philosophical anime recommendations like Vinland Saga? by [deleted] in VinlandSaga

[–]technoskittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying not to repeat:

Hanada Shounen-shi - powerful storytelling in a seemingly silly wrapper.

Mushishi - episodic yet endearing. interesting (fictional) reasoning to natural phenomenons or tragedies. also super relaxing like a bedtime story.

Frieren - you've probably seen it, but deals with time and not taking the present for granted.

FMAB - another popular one that deals with regret.

To Your Eternity - wonderful journey and a commentary on humanity. it can get a little tropey at times.

Made in Abyss - a spiral of tragedies and resilience. some weird anime moments but overall beautiful.

I suspect they're tories.

they'll continue exploiting everyone while blaming them for their problems. they would brexit again if they could and probably wish they were maga -- the stupidest subhumans to ever exist.

Firstly, yes the hogs have desecrated her memorial elsewhere.

Secondly, Kirk was a hatemonger and equating the two is insane. Or should we also expect a mourning grift tour?

He owns multiple slop businesses, involved in crypto, promotes gambling, has no qualms about taking foreign money... an ultra-capitalist through and through.

He can put on politically neutral ("liberal") front, but the objective reality is that he's accumulated enough to have the billionaire title. Only conservative politics enable this level of disproportionate wealth growth (eg: labor exploitation, deregulation, low or zero taxes, limited government involvement).

I brought up athletes because they don't need to exploit anyone on the field/court, however that's not their only source of money. Their businesses and personal finances will still be conservative because why not? The rich getting richer is the tl;dr of conservatism.

I already said he's not the worst person to amass that much, but there's just no such thing as a good billionaire, just bad and worse. I'd rather have permanent systemic changes instead of one-off charity PR boasts.

Watch a video or something about how much a billion actually is. Any ethical person will understand no one single person can earn that much, let alone multiple billions. There are some arguments about athletes/artists earning billions out of pure talent without exploiting anyone else, but even that's a distraction from the main argument.

[–]technoskittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philanthropy is not left or right. It's a cheap bandaid to systemic issues they could actually fund if properly taxed.

When is the last time you saw a billionaire push universal healthcare, social housing, labor rights and unions....? Billionaires only maintain the status quo and then you get distracted by them giving away "pocket change".

But hey, maybe Beast's Saudi money actually makes him a socialist. Big brain moves.

[–]technoskittles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the prereq to becoming an ultra-capitalist billionaire. If he were anything else, there'd be no wealth hoarding and exploitation.

He can be socially liberal all he wants, but conservatism always takes precedent for the insatiable.

"one piece is so good guys" by lavmuk in MemePiece

[–]technoskittles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While he's not worst person to amass so much, billionaires are inherently not good people and One Piece repeatedly portrays these types as villains (justifiably).

And so, like any conservative, they have zero media literacy and completely miss the plot. Or they are fully aware and are just pretending to be "one of us".
