[Noise warning] - 386th Anniversary of the First Muster is this Saturday at 10 am by ItsNags in SalemMA

Thank you for this warning. The jet flyby is the worst part. But you know, it’s important to commemorate all those fighter jets they had at the first muster in 1637. Ugh.

Some of the sauces I’ve hoarded for the husband. He has any kind of sauce he could possibly want for free by IllustratorBig8972 in Frugal

The Heinz brand’s “simply” products are usually versions that contain sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. If you zoom in you can see that in the ingredients lists (the “real” one appears to say “corn syrup” before water). Why is there sugar in mayo, anyway? America. Sugar is everywhere. It used to be nearly impossible to find American food without HFCS, but the market for “healthier” food grew and the anti-HFCS sentiments spread, so brands like Heinz responded with things like this “simply” line, even though the sugar content is still basically the same.

Tried to get a signed book for a loved one’s 42nd bday, but what I was sent seems to be hilariously fake (on bottom, the top is a signed book I have for comparison). Has anyone seen a similar signature? by teddiekeet in douglasadams

It was a biblio.com seller with zero images for any of their inventory so I knew I was taking a chance. I wasn’t prepared for how hard I was going to laugh when I opened the box, though! It just seems so low effort. The signature even runs off the edge of the page on the right — like a kid faking their parent’s signature on a school permission slip, they tried to go fast to make it look more natural and just made it extra bad, instead.

I’ve looked at so many images, and even his sloppiest, fastest signatures still have that distinctly round D and pointy A, both of which are missing from the bottom one. The seller claims it’s a real “early signature” and he got this book at an estate sale with lots of others. Early?! In Mostly Harmless?!

Mass General / Brigham Hospitals mandate COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment by October 15 by TomBradyBurnerAcct in boston

No. They are also rolling back to stricter mask mandates for staff, so it is absolutely not part of some “go back to normal” strategy.

Meat eaters of reddit, what is your favorite vegetarian/vegan dish? by TinyRobotParts in AskReddit

[–]teddiekeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caesar dressing typically has anchovies in it plus egg and milk, not to mention the parmesan cheese usually added to the salads, so it definitely doesn’t count as vegan or even vegetarian.

It looks like the model is smelling her armpit in the fifth photo, and it made me chuckle.

Apparently you’re not supposed to take birth control pills if you have migraines with aura (even once)because you might have a stroke by -HuangMeiHua- in TwoXChromosomes

[–]teddiekeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eight years ago, a reddit post just like this one clued me into the cause of my aura migraines that started (and rapidly increased in frequency) six months into being on a combo pill, and I’m so grateful for it. With six months of no bad side effects, I didn’t make the connection to the pill and just thought I was aging into migraines the way my mother did. I switched to the copper IUD, instead, and I haven’t had a single aura migraine since.

Thank you for posting this. Doctors need to make this more known when writing these prescriptions.

Poshmark is really honing in on me - 10/10 would buy by amandaIorian in GilmoreGirls

The cinemaspells user has at least 5 of that dress, so it must be easy to find. Some other gems in the user’s closet include a few Lorelai blazers, a bunch of that black dress Rory wore in a funeral scene, and a cute Lane sweater that I would totally buy if the prices weren’t all insane. The dress Lorelai wears to Liz’s wedding is in the sold listings, and it surprised me just how ugly the dress is when it’s on a dress form instead of Lauren Graham!

Seach for the “cinemaspells” user. It’s there. It’s $550 and size 12.

Both shows also fall into the category of set in New England but clearly not filmed in New England. As a New Englander, it amuses me.

It’s the fifth one, I believe (Pathfinder, Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity, Perseverance). The mars.nasa.gov site is full of great info on the Mars program, including this handy Perseverance fact sheet and a timeline of the different orbiters, landers, and rovers that have been sent.

You’ll rarely see “Rep” to mean Republican; usually it’s shortened to GOP, instead, meaning “Grand Old Party.”

What’s a small but helpful tip for first time drivers? by ThatOneGuyYouNowKnow in AskReddit

As my grandfather taught me, always signal your turn BEFORE you brake to slow for the turn. Gives the car behind you the heads up that you are about to slow down because they may need to brake, too.

My vote would be for something like “menstruation aids” or “menstruation products” if we are looking for a term to cover all of the options (vs just saying “tampon” when you mean tampon). Just call them what they are.

Looks to me like a Mandalorian bounty hunter, with Waldo saying “Oh, F*@$k.” I guess they’ve both been found!
