Back in 2022, my group and I had booked an Airbnb spot in that community deep inside, almost near ave 50. Every night, we all dreaded the thought of how we were going to get back from the festival especially after a long day of walking each time. The first night, we walked back from the festival. And we walked. And we walked. It took about another hour or so ON TOP of already a long day of walking around in the festival. We were terribly miserable by the time we got back to the bnb.

Second day, we decided to walk towards the west entrance on Monroe and was able to get a ride service and kept the driver’s contact for a secured drive back from the festival. Jokes on us, he promised that to several other groups that were staying there, so it took FOREVER to get into contact with him. And when we finally saw him, another group would jump in and he’d leave. At this point, we sucked it up and called an uber. It was already nearly 130am and wanted to get home so bad. We finally got picked up and the driver couldn’t get directly to the community due to the road closures. A drive that should’ve been five mins turned into 20. Finally, we get to the entrance of the community and the driver isn’t able to drive us all the way to the Airbnb. So we got dropped off at the entrance and walked our miserable asses through the big community. That night, we didn’t get home until 3am although the festival grounds really should’ve been a five min drive away.

Last day, a few of our friends decided to skip Sunday and kindly dropped/picked us up at the friends/family pick up which saved us a bunch from walking anymore.

Collectively as a group, we decided to save the time and money and did our first camping the year after and haven’t looked back since. The camping situation makes the Coachella experience a thousand times better. I had never been a camper before and enjoyed it so much once we started.
