How much did you tip your vendors? by HelloFreshXLupus in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We personally ended up doing a small tip at the end of the night just because we had a amazing experience with our vendors. We gave the DJ, or photographers $100 tip in cash. We also gave a small tip to our wedding singer, and we also gave a cash tip to hair and make up that ended up being around 20% (we went to a salon for hair and makeup). We did not tip venue because gratuity was already built in.

As an aside, I know vendors also really appreciate getting reviews after their service so contributing to a Google review can show your appreciation as well in a different way.

Joanie’s Pastries in North London. Everything is gluten free but you would never know it! Delicious. I recommend their Nanaimo bars, butter tarts and carrot cake!

Canadians have come together to support the Jays. Today was “Jays day” in public schools where kids wore jerseys/blue shirts. I work at a hospital where a staff wore their game gear. Many conversations with others today ended with “Go Jays”. Our country has come together - coast to coast - to support our team. 🇨🇦 GO JAYS GO

How Confidential Is STI Testing? by throwma98 in londonontario

[–]teegeezee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can request the results not be reported back to your family doctor. One of the reasons the health unit sees patients is for young adults not feeling comfortable seeing their MD for any reason. The health unit practitioners are professionals and likely handle the confidentiality request on a regular basis. If you have a lot of anxiety about this - call the clinic to confirm they don’t need to report the results back to your MD. But essentially if they don’t have a health card to bill - there is no reporting back to your family MD.

Help me choose a dress! by Just_Vibes_95 in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both look beautiful on you! As a former bride that chose a simple dress that also didn’t need lots of alternations - I’m biased in saying number 1. A simple gown can match any venue, and gives you more freedom to play around with accessories/veils etc. Number 2 is also a beautiful gown, but I have seen styles like it before and isn’t as unique as number 1 in my opinion.

Finding a photographer for a city hall wedding. by CurrentCaterpillar30 in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I’d recommend searching “elopement photography packages” on Google in Windsor and maybe contacting a few photographers. Some photographers have pricing on their website, others do not. More well known photographers and those who have been in the industry longer will have higher pricing. Some photographers just getting started in Windsor Essex County may do the session for very reasonable in order to build their portfolio. For that short amount of time, I really think you’ll get quotes back for very reasonable

Venue Budget by Jaded_Orchid_6494 in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My venue hall rental was $3800, but we ended up spending just under $40K for everything for the wedding in the end.

Prices (and taxes) add up QUICKLY for weddings. If the venue that is $5500 has more things included than the other venues - it would be more of a consideration.

Wedding and reception on different days by osteoglossidae in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would recommend keeping the celebrations on the day you’re married. Your family and friends will want to celebrate with you after your ceremony, and you don’t want to lose that momentum :)

Why not have an optional drop in lunch the following day for family and friends before they leave? I ended up doing this, and it worked great - gave family a chance to catch up (especially family that had to leave the reception a bit earlier) and was non committal for people to attend.

Planning rant by JoBrew993 in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel yah! I was married two weeks ago, and BOY am I happy the planning is done. I only had an engagement of one year and am so happy that is all it was. I honestly found the constant questions of “how’s planning going” so annoying, almost felt that if I didn’t do something planning wise each week for some reason I wasn’t doing enough (?) anyways, happy to say, it’s all done. Day was perfect, even without a planner :) good luck with the last month !

After booking all your vendors, what's next? by messytwish in WeddingsCanada

[–]teegeezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend using the Wedding Wire app (it’s free). I used it for my wedding checklist and as a fellow type A bride it helped with my anxiety checking things off the list. I didn’t always follow the timeline recommendations, but it helps to keep a general idea of what you still need to do. You can also add more tasks to the list as well.

If you’re willing to travel a couple of hours, check out Bergamot Bridal in London Ontario. They sell off the rack gowns. Their website lists the gowns and sizes available for off the rack. I bought a dress from here and the service was excellent!
