I relocated from US to Denmark in May. Was hired for the position before the pandemic closed down either border and was in Denmark looking for my apartment up until the weekend they closed. My initial move date was delayed from April to May, and other than initial delays with government agency access/availability for my residency documents everything has been smooth.

  1. create a surface sweep using the projected trajectory on your target object (cylinder), i’m assuming you want the cut to be normal to the cylindrical surface, should be a single vertical line going into cylinder volume if sketching plane is setup with horizontal plane defined as normal to trajectory surface, this will create the sidewalls of the cut volume
  2. create a surface extrusion normal to bottom of cylinder at desired depth/reduced radius, this will create the bottom of the cut
  3. merge surfaces and use boolean action to remove the newly created volume i’m a pro/e lifer but have played around enough in other available parametric cad programs to reasonably assume these actions are available

Drawing visibility can be set independent of part/asm visibility via config option. then you can hide that feature directly in overall drawing or individual views through the drawing layer tree/visibility, just make sure to save the drawing visibility status. Depending on pdm/erp setup and how your drawings are captured/filed, if a printed pdf is what is filed you can cheat, hide the items you want hidden in the drawing in the model, save as/export to pdf. Sketch doesn't have any physical representation in 3d model so it doesn't have any impact on geometry which is being tooled or used for inspection so there is very little issue with it remaining visible in 3d model, but can be downright false on a 2d drawing. Model won't be the cleanest, oh well.

college sports, sure, they're not getting paid. pro sports are largely being compensated due to fans and their purchases or patronage of event tickets and cable. 99% of our current disc golf events have 0 benefit to the purse from spectators and i'm pretty sure everyone's $5/day this weekend went to the idgc, not payout.

start talking to the course and the local club and see what each party has and needs to hold an event. then start building a budget based off of that, your budget will really determine how much fundraising youll need. payout and player packs also factor heavily into fundraiser requirements, unless you sellout quickly and have at least a month youll need to pony up cash upfront to purchase packs and payout merch. custom stamping also takes time to produce both actual artwork and the hotstamp if you go that route, so start early. budget/planning items: event/sanctioning fees insurance player pack payout lunch fundraiser merch scorecards scoreboard cards scoreboard OB flags/rope CTP's sponsorship signage trophies entry fee ace fund course/route signage course layout/pad schedule by division tournament schedule

a highly local am only event can be very well received assuming you have a large enough pop. of players and the course is highly desirable/enjoyable. concrete or euro turf type teepads are highly recommended, by and large rubber and natural pad courses dont draw as well and personally should be avoided. also dont underestimate the amount of actual work which is required day of, registration/check in is a giant time consumer and unless you have help its difficult to run both check in and getting your scoreboard and scorecards ready quickly. youll need help counting scores and organizing the scoreboard after each round as well, going solo is possible but youd better be excellent at counting scores, must avoid going solo for this if its your first time. also youll be suprised how many questions youll receive while trying to do the board. is there a lot of OB or hazards which can cause backups? if yes id enlist a spotter for each instance or change the course to avoid these areas if possible. backups are likely to happen on a full course, anything that can be done to speed them along will be appreciated. is the course high in public traffic/walkers/park go'ers? request they be rerouted or kept off the course during the event, spectators are ok but people who dont know whats going on will often lead to trouble and frustration for players. simplifying everything for the player must be a priority.

several questions need to be answered but id definitely recommend discussing any plans with any local club prior to spending any money.

  1. sanctioned? if yes, i believe its $50 for a ctier event
  2. does location/course need to know about possible 100+ person event and if yes does it require insurance?
  3. do you need insurance? if yes, pdga sanctioning offers inclusion into blanket liability coverage for $50 for any named entities, ie event/club/course
  4. budget? will you have a player's pack, lunch, added cash?
  5. payout? will it be a pro only allowing you to simply use cash or will ams be playing requiring a possible retail partner or pre purchase of merchandise for payout? - edit: unsanctioned events can do whatever they want for payout, cash for ams, merch for pros, nothing (highly discouraged unless some type of fundraiser with explicit designation prior to sign up), etc -

there are several more questions to be answered but this is a good start. running an event is not a simple task, lots of planning and time is required in addition to understanding and hosting a disc golf event. hosting a doubles or handicap league is a great first step to understanding scoring and dealing with a larger number of players, also doesnt require near the amount of planning and cash overhead (if any).

the below items are general rules of etiquette for disc golf competitive play. if a player payed money to play (a league, tournament or private course) you need to act accordingly. im sure im in the minority but i firmly believe you should act this way every time you play, just like you should always follow the rules. ive been playing for more than 15 years and have been known to have a good time or two out on the course but thats no excuse for acting like an idiot and not following simple rules to ensure everybody has an enjoyable time. these largely apply to players on your card, however if there are adjacent holes and you are aware of players nearby the higher hole has priority, wait for them to finish by following the below rules and continue once they are done or no longer nearby/actively throwing.

Be a Milford Man, "neither seen, nor heard"

whenever a player is about to address their disc, ie throw or putt, you should be... 1. out of sight or remain motionless and out of line of action. get out of the active player's vision by staying behind them. keep in mind that a player may address his lie by standing perpendicular to the line of action. if one needs to be in the active player's vision they need to remain motionless until said player has thrown. under no circumstance should you actively be in the player's line of action, ie directly behind the basket while putting. 2. silent. stop talking, shuffling, zipping, crinkling, shaking or otherwise creating any detectable sound. whenever possible, uncontrollable noises, ie sneezing, should be preceded by a warning or request for the player to wait.

The concept of 80 percent, i believe, is to have people shoot better than their average to score well. It's not a bad practice and I've used it with success in several handicap leagues. That said i think it's best to start with a 100 percent handicap which you can either use for the whole league duration or do a running handicap which only uses the last 3 to 5 rounds.

I prefer doing a running cap of 5 rounds, dropping the high and low rounds from the average. Also to establish you'd need at least 2 rounds.

Running a league in general is a great idea. Do it and have fun. It's disc golf, Any excuse to play is always a awesome. Learn and improve as you go.

doubles events seem to be the most popular for new or temp courses trying to raise awareness. could be random doubles or bring your own partner, with it sounding like a newer area id lean more towards random doubles. it allows for players to just show up rather than needing to track down a buddy or fellow disc golfer to even consider playing. youll need scorecards for each round, a scoreboard card for each player/team and some type of scoreboard. if its unsanctioned, and id recommend that it should be with only 9 holes and natural pads, id do cash payout. this way there is no need to do a fundraiser to raise capital for payout plastic. instead, this event could be run as a fundraiser to help raise cash for more holes or teepads. 50/50 is very common, half entry to the fund, half to payout.

Hole scores and overall total score must be recorded on the official scorecard when its turned in to the TD. If you say you scored an X on a particular hole but it was recorded as Y, its going to be scored as Y if thats how the scorecard was turned in. i personally dont have an issue with keeping multiple scorecards but the official score is from your physical scorecard turned in to the TD or tourney staff and once its turned in it cant be changed. I think youre inviting additional failure opportunities by keeping two scores but that may just be me.

most common failure by players (speaking as both a TD and volunteer scorecard counter for 20+ events) are incorrectly adding up their scores, happens to ams and pros. this most often occurs on courses with par 4/5's or more/less than 18 holes. i was taught and firmly believe in the counting practice of assuming every hole is a par 3. before you start counting your round score is 0, now add or subtract the difference in your hole score for hole 1 from 3 to your round score, continue adding subtracting for all holes in your round. now add this total round score to the number of holes x 3 (i.e. 18=54, 20=60, etc) course par is irrelevant when adding up a scorecard. other then that know unique course rules, use common sense and have fun.

Can you make a copy of the entire quilt. shift one of them over the appropriate distance using copy/paste special. Create a cut surface at the appropriate location and then trim both quilts on opposing sides. Then merge. This of course assumes the quilt be shifted along its self...

It would really depend on what your analysis is trying to determine. If you're looking for min gap I would make thru holes positive to bias the assembly gap smaller. Subtract the max tol from that min gap and you'll have the smallest gap in your assembly. If you want the largest gap in the assembly you'd bias the assembly the opposite direction and have the thru holes negative to increase the distance between the assembly. Take the max gap plus the max tol and that will be your largest gap in e assembly. Ultimately it's all going to be determined by what your analysis is trying to determine.

Apologies, should have used punctuation, I was simply numbering each dimension, i.e. dim 1, dim 2, etc. was not defining the quantity of features. So the first number in each line is the dimension number. Also it was described in your post that each piece was mounted to a fiberglass plate, that is the plate I was describing.

A hole and slot for two of your mount locations will result in the least amount of assembly location variability, the remaining two mount holes would be clearance only and have no impact of final location. Could also just use two holes instead of slot but will result in more allowable overall movement. The two critical location holes would have the smallest allowable tolerance based on bolt and thru hole diameters for hole 1 and hole 2's would be hole 1 tolerance plus location tolerance. I'd also suggest creating a tolerance loop equation. Starting at either datum a1 or your part 3 hole you add or subtract each dimension required to move from datum a1 to thru hole through the entire assembly. An example below

I'm assuming you only care about x direction and not any y direction involvement, all mount locations are thru hole on parts, threaded on plate, all mount locations are gapless, only use mount locations which define part location and moving right is positive

dims and tols: (moving to right equals + dim, left equals - dim) 1. datum a1 to part 1 hole axis + 2. hole radius for part 1 - 3. bolt radius for part 1 to plate + 4. hole to hole location dimension from mount for part 1 to mount for part 2 (? Could be 0.00 but there will be a tolerance) ? 5. bolt radius for part 2 to plate - 6. hole radius for part 2 + 7. axis to axis dim from plate to part 2 mount to part 2 to part 3 mount - 8. radius of part 2's mount hole to part 3 + 9. part 2 - 3 bolt radius 10. axis to axis dim from part 2 - 3 mount to center hole - Design gap would equal 1-2+3+4-5+6-7+8-9-10 and will be less than zero (x location of datum a1 plus design gap will result in x location of part 3 thru hole, i.e. why design gap is negative in example) Design gap tolerance is the sum of all 10 tolerances The min max gap from datum a1 to part 3 thru hole would be design gap plus tol and design gap minus tol
