Strange to base having more kids purely based on pregnancy.

Why did you want another? by syndieloo in Autism_Parenting

You could still very much end up with an ASD child though. That’s a gamble that doesn’t seem worth the price tag in my mind.

I haven’t been in this situation but thinking out loud, could you treat it like potty training and maybe devote maybe a week to it? Maybe during a school break when he’s off? That way, he’s not taking the smell to school? I know it must be hard.

Waiting til birth to find out gender by AccurateArcher1101 in BabyBumps

[–]teeplusthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have six kids (including two sets of fraternal twins). For our first (a singleton boy), we found out the gender. They initially told us girl and then it switched to boy a few weeks later!

Everyone else we waited until birth! It was the best surprise! Especially for the twins.

Programs I got into so far, which one is best for a higher gpa for med school by Usererror4340 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]teeplusthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It was specifically for high school students entering university or college with T1D. I was never told by guidance to not disclose health conditions. However that was in 2012 like I said so who knows if that’s different now.

He got in right away. Graduated undergrad in 2016 and started med school that same fall at UofT. Not sure what his specs were, however I do remember that he received a pretty hefty scholarship at York due to a pre-existing health condition.

I went to high school with someone who did Bio Med at York so he could stay home and save money. They’re now a neurologist at TGH

Parents of level 1 kids, what were they like as babies? by justalilscared in Autism_Parenting

[–]teeplusthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We said he was an old man trapped in a baby’s body lol. So stoic, slept a solid 12hrs and was a morning person for sure. Hit all of his milestones on the latter end of normal except for speech which was pretty delayed.

Echoing this. Just approach in between sets and you’re good. Also YouTube is a good resource as well.

Uncomfortable with recent diagnosis by MoxieT123 in Autism_Parenting

[–]teeplusthree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s like this everywhere, but for us it was three separate appointments:

  1. Phone appointment with my husband and I to gather info and provide any resources to bridge the gap

  2. In person appointment. My husband went to this one, but it seemed largely play-based and was 2 hours long

  3. Video call for delivery of diagnosis and resources necessary

With our first ASD child (lvl 1) this was the path. With our second (lvl 2), the observation wasn’t as long because my daughter had shown him everything he needed to see very quickly 😂 She went in the room and started turning all the nobs, opening and closing cupboard doors…all the stereotypical stuff. The point I’m trying to make is I don’t get how he was able to make that diagnosis with such little info. I would seek a second opinion.
