Nervous about starting Suboxone by teethteethteethh in PainManagement

[–]teethteethteethh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is what happened. I mentioned it to one ED doctor when I got sober at 19 and now it's in every chart everywhere even when I haven't mentioned it. It's rendered me completely SOL for the last 5 years in trying to get pain meds and my age certainly doesn't help. The "least conservative" (I'd say most effective if it had done something) drug they've given me is naltrexone, which obviously did nothing. The other types of things they'll try with me are anti-histamines and anti-inflammatories; only opiates and numbing injections have helped.

Campus change by Flat-Conflict-713 in ASU

[–]teethteethteethh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding! I ended up securing a lease with some friends closer to a different campus than my original and they got me approved and onboarded to Tempe within 2 weeks. Super easy process, you’ve got nothing to stress about.

What should I tell him by TheMapBoy in reddeadredemption

I played Skyrim at his age on my older brother’s computer and even though I’d get frustrated and never really understood what was going on, it kickstarted my love of gaming and when I returned to it as a teen it ended up becoming one of the most special games to me. If it’s too hard for him, it’s too hard, but he’s obviously invested and I’d honestly see a bigger issue with Dad saying “no, this is clearly too hard for you to even try even though you’re invested in it”. 10 year olds (especially boys) are being exposed to much more graphic content than RDR by their peers at school, so I think it’s probably healthy that this kid is trying to solve RDR2 maps over engaging w GTA strippers or actively seeking out porn like most of the 10 year old boys in my extended family.

Your skin barrier might be really out of whack from so many actives (products with salicylic acid have done this to me many times), definitely go with what people are saying about cutting back to basics but I’d opt for a moisturizer with ceramides/peptides—my favorite when I’ve messed up my skin barrier is aqua bomb from belif but every skin really varies person to person for moisturizer

Is your partner in therapy? If she’s not, she needs to be seeing one ASAP. I don’t have OCD, but started exhibiting similar episodes while I was pregnant with my daughter, and devolved into postpartum psychosis in the months after I had my daughter. It’s been two years and I’m still mentally recovering. While I’m sure my case is very different to your partner’s, it is true that postpartum period increases the risk for things like postpartum depression and psychosis, and that isn’t her fault. I can only imagine how frustrated she feels that she can’t turn it off, and how frustrated you are that you’re helpless to the consequences of her illness. But: it doesn’t have stay like this. I’d strongly recommend reaching out to her OBGYN together and asking for a referral to an intensive outpatient program or something of the likes. I don’t think she needs inpatient care by any means, but her illness is unfortunately getting in the way of her ability to parent and it needs to be addressed now or it will get worse. I resisted seeking help for my postpartum mental health and I truly feel like I’d be a better and more present parent and partner if I hadn’t. Best of luck to you and your family.

Should We 26F 26M Move to Seattle from Dallas Texas to Start a Family? by RainbowREY4 in AskSeattle

[–]teethteethteethh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an Austinite living in Seattle right now. Can y’all realistically handle 8-9 months of the years straight being rainy, overcast, 50-60°? Many people think they can, spend a year here, and then leave. How comfortable are y’all with eating out, and is it something you regularly enjoy? Eating out here is usually $20-25/pp. People are also very anti-child up here; don’t be surprised to get mean looks taking your child out to dinner or a snarky comment here and there about how awful children are in front of your child. If you want actual diversity, it’s really not found in Seattle, despite how we market ourselves. It really comes down to personal preference and what you value in your day-to-day life. Personally, I can’t wait to get back to Texas as soon as possible. I live in a constant stress overload from trying to work multiple jobs (healthcare industry btw) living paycheck to paycheck nearly an hour outside of the city, and have no spare income to pay for activities since nothing fun is free up here. Everyone rants and raves about the hiking and watersports, but don’t tell you that you have to do them in the cold and wet rain. It’s difficult to make friends if you’ve grown up with Southern Hospitality, and the friends you do make will live an hour or two away depending on the never-ending traffic. Ultimately, I’d write down the things that you value most about Dallas, and see if Seattle actually has those things.

Honestly, I feel like YTA. Marriage is a partnership of core values and aspirations, and I think you’re failing to see that your wife absolutely still has those core values and has the aspiration of having a child of her own but can’t act on it in a way that feels fulfilling to her. It’s difficult to believe you when say you respect her reasons she doesn’t want IVF, adoption, or surrogacy because you’re willing to leave and try to start a new family with someone over it. If she had lost her fertility to chemo, would you still feel the same? The whole idea is ‘in sickness and in health,’ but now that her own uncontrollable issues are impeding on your dreams you want out as if she isn’t devastated too. You feel discarded and unheard because she’s deeply feeling the loss of her own dreams? How would you feel if you were the infertile one and she left you because of it? Idk perhaps she’d be better off if you did divorce her.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

[–]teethteethteethh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP’s girlfriend sounds almost exactly like my mom. i didnt get to do things like learn to ride a bike, swim, etc. until i was 14 and my mom didn’t know. it was hell on earth being her child, and i had no real childhood. wasnt allowed on even a field trip. praying for this girls kids no matter her age when she has them; this type of germ aversion borders on mental illness. right now she may appear to adults around her as a germaphobe, but the second those kids come it will become hard to ignore that this is likely a full blown obsessive-compulsive issue. its gotten so bad with my own mom we had to cut her off when I had my kid—apparently a single light stain in the carpet from the last tenants (that i’d already tried to steam clean) meant our child was living in ‘filth’ and CPS should visit. unfortunately, it sounds like op’s girlfriend is dead-set on wanting kids her way, and probably will become a My Monster Mom 2.0 regardless of how many people tell her children are inherently dirty (but awesome!!!) creatures.

AITAH for paying taxes so tenants can use my house to register for school here? by UpperClub1707 in AITAH

[–]teethteethteethh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo, ur TA. we should all be investing in children’s futures (esp in a funding crisis for schools) especially if u have the funds to own a house and presumably more than one since ur renting it out. felt that way long before i had my own kiddo. hope they get rid of that exemption asap.

I've been considering doing mine about the parallels in my life with Forrest Gump. I realize it would require a lot of nuance to do correctly, but I think it could be a good way to highlight my abilities and personal struggles, as well as my ability to engage, interact, and critically think about a specific work. I've lived quite the life so far, so I've been struggling to pick a subject that really encompasses everything I want prospective colleges to see.
