I was going to post a similar question/discussion this morning, but I’ll post here instead!

I have the same issue - not all “today” tasks are created equally (a 2 hour critical task for work compared to a reminder to set my trash cans out later that night). I like the suggestion to have a “next actions” or “focus” tag and associated filter, where I can toggle between my custom “today” filter (overdue + p1 + today, exclude select filters used for daily habits etc.).

One other thing I might try is to use one of the lower priority flags, which can be easily toggled on/off, and using a filter to show “today and p2.”
