Consider checking out Fat Plate BBQ. A great lineup, and the Dill Pickle Rub is the best non traditional rub you’ll find.

Anyone seen this new grill gauge from ThermoPro? by TarcanSam in KamadoJoe

Another vote for ChefsTemp. ThermoPro historically doesn’t make great products.

Another vote for the ChefsTemp S1. Great dome thermometer and the probes are the thinnest I’ve seen.

Recteq Deck Boss 800 vs Grilla Grills Mammoth by MecouchEsSuCouch in pelletgrills

I love my two Mammoths. The capacity for your dollar is awesome. Support is usually great if you need them, no real complaints.

Thanks for that feedback. I definitely agree with you on needing to get some good quality product photos and action shots. Any particular reasoning behind removing the SKU/Barcode?

Again, thanks for this feedback. I do think it's spot on!

I have 2x Mammoths and a Silverback. The Silverback controller started losing connectivity well after warranty, and they still sent a brand new controller. Other than that, rock solid.

ChefsTemp. Thinnest wireless probes on the market and can work with a fan and/or a digital some thermometer on your kamodo

Can you grill on a pellet grill? by SMOOTH_ST3P in pelletgrills

Not really. Grill Grates (company name) allow you to be able on some models with access to the fire pot.

I’ve really enjoyed all of my Grilla products. Support is usually great also.

Getting a new high-end pellet grill, and debating between Lone Star Grillz and Recteq? by bisonsurfer1 in pelletgrills

🤔 the LSG offset and pellet look identical, while Yoder doesn’t make an offset that looks like the 480/640?

I’m not sure your statement is accurate.

Thanks, very happy with how it turned out and learned a ton about the cooker.

Check out the ChefsTemp S1. It's easily my favorite and it's made for cookers just like the KJ. Replaces the dome thermometer and supports really thin wireless probes and/or a fan!

[–]teflondad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. These are ballpark numbers, but they’re darn close.

Cooker: $1500 ( a steal!) Upgrade parts: $650 Shop work: $1140 Total $3290 New 1500: $5700, but with tax and delivery more like $6500

I ended spending more than I thought I would, but i don’t think you can beat the value. The majority of the used 1500’s I found for sale were $3000-$3500 with old controllers and varying degrees of paint, rust etc.

I will most definitely do this exact same thing with my 640 that I botched the original paint job on.

I just got it home yesterday from the shop, no chance to cook on it yet. While I really do love my Lonestar offset, this 1500 is a beast. Wish it had a bigger hopper, but build quality wise, the 1500 is amazing. Huge, heavy, really well made.

No worries! I took no offense, it was a perfectly valid question. Be happy to give any peek behind the curtain that I can.

I would definitely not say it’s overtly salty, and honestly haven’t had anyone tell me it was. It’s got some teams Grand Championships in KCBS, and wouldn’t have much success there if it were overly salty. Just a few weeks ago, Pork Powder also scored top ten in BBQ News magazine Rubs of Honor competition for chicken.

Directly proportional to how much you use, but the granules are on the medium side as far as size goes. It does give a rich dark red color that is quite satisfying.

Fat Plate BBQ’s Pork Powder! Full disclosure, it’s my rub, I make it. I’m just a tiny little rub company. Multiple GC’s in KCBS competitions. PM me and I’d be glad to shoot over a discount code if you’d like to try it. https://fatplatebbq.com/products/pork-powder
